We grew them out for two years in the orchard. They did get grain and alfalfa hay in the winter though.I wonder if "grass-fed" means that the cow NEVER gets grain?
We used to buy 1/2 a beef from a friend and it was the best beef I have ever had. His steer were out on pasture until the day they loaded into the trailer and took the one way trip to the butcher. BUT, every day his steer got a small scoop of grains - like 1/2 cup each. The guys wife had 2 horses in the same pasture and whenever the horses got their grain, the steer got a little in a bucket to make them feel "special" also. It was the only way they could keep the steer from chasing the horses away from the barn or trampling his wife, lol. That little bit of grain also kept them very tame and they loved head scratches...
And you can add half a teaspoon of sour salt-- citric acid-- to the doughIf you want a stronger taste, you can allow the dough to sit in the fridge overnight.
