Any Home Bakers Here?

My Dad talks of how his mom baked bread every morning in a wood-fired oven - 4 loaves every day I think it was. He was the youngest of 13 kids and his father was a butcher. They ate a lot of sandwiches for lunches and his Dad had to have bread with supper. She also had to make dessert to go with supper. 2 pies would just do it, lol.

Ma baked our bread as a child did notice when I came home from college her bread was bought go figure
I saw that with my Wife's step mom. At some point as they age, they often stop with baking and cooking so much. Maybe it is arthritis?

Those were the days!

It was hard times too though.

Yes, hard times for sure. Grandpa had a farm that he raised beef and pork at. Dad would go with and help butcher animals to take to the shop in town.

Dad always said he would spit on his piece of pie before supper, just to make sure he got a piece. He still expects big hearty suppers with dessert for supper every night.
