Any Home Bakers Here?

I think a lot of the time the concept of quarantining away from the family after testing positive is that they probably already got it from you before you tested and they will all be positive as well.

But I agree, since he tested positive and they are also likely positive, the DC should be shut for 2 weeks .... and everyone tested 1 week after potential exposure.
I guess they will be off for 2 weeks even if they’re negative. One of the daughters was sick last week and working...makes me wonder if she had it.
I did coconut macaroons today... Made over 100 of them....
They look good.

Every July 4th, I bake "Grandpa Charles' Cookies" to honor him after he passed. He was my step-grandfather, but such a good man and loved the simple life. He was such a great baker, and made the best sweets. I won't share this beloved recipe (as it varies from ones I've seen posted online, and it's a treasure to me), but I'll be sure to share a picture or two of what they look like. And I'll leave one on his headstone Saturday. :)

That is a nice memorial!

Does he get a splash of bourbon to go with it?

Maybe he was more of a coffee and cookie guy though

@ronott1 - We always take some patriotic decorations out to his grave as he passed right shortly before the 4th and was retired from the military. I never knew him to drink, but never thought to take him a little coffee so I might just do that. Long drive so it will probably be cold, but the thought counts. He loved animals so I’ve got a little statue of birds to leave too.

Here are my 4th of July cupcakes, DH put the sprinkles on for me :)

I tried a new vanilla cake recipe and it was good, moist with a nice crumb and the frosting isn't overly sweet. Here are the links to the recipes I used:

vanilla-cake (I used 1/2 recipe of the frosting from this recipe)

I really like Sally's Baking Addiction recipes, she gives clear detailed instructions and has a lot of helpful tips.

Those look great Debby! Thanks for sharing the recipe.
After further review, the COVID19 test came back NEGATIVE.
Most excellent news Jared!

I did Belgian waffles tonight double the recipe after I was making them realized we had added only 3 cups of milk but came out perfect
Belgian Waffles
Ingredients

2 1/4 Cups All Purpose Flour
1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
3 Tablespoons Sugar
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
2 Large Eggs Separated
1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil
2 Cups Milk
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Instructions

Preheat your waffle iron, spray with non stick cooking spray and set aside.
In a large bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
In a medium bowl beat the egg whites with a hand mixer until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
In a separate medium bowl mix together the egg yolks, vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla extract.
Add the egg yolk mixture to the dry ingredients and mix well.
Fold in the egg whites.
Pour the batter onto your hot waffle iron and cook according to manufacturer's directions**

I love waffles... I'm gonna have to try this. I have my husbands great grandmothers old cast iron Belgian waffle maker. 💜💜
