when I am stuck using canned pie filling, I rinse off most of the gooey sauce, and add some lemon zest to freshen it up. It's an improvement, still not as good as fresh
I refuse to use. Not too many pies in this house. I am NOW ALONE...and have enough trouble taking care of things. Aria

Wow. That looks yummy, very yummy indeed :drool

Did you use a blender, and how much water and salt ? ?
No, I didn’t use the blender. It’s Karen Erwin’s recipe. She uses pumpkin purée and I halved her recipe.

Peanut Butter Dog Treats.

2/3 cup pumpkin puree or apple sauce

1/4 C peanut butter

2 large eggs

2 1/2 - 3 cups whole wheat flour

Mix it all together. Form into a ball, and then roll out flat (1/4 inch or so thick). Put on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 350 degree oven for 20 -25 minutes. Flip, and bake them another 10-20 minutes to harden. Cool completely.

Thank you. I just hope I don't eat them all :)

Making hubby a loaf of bread in the machine. The recipe is from a neighbor named Betsy, so we call it Betsy bread.

I've taken some of the ideas from this to use in my GF machine bread, and it improved the recipe quite a bit.

Add 2 Tablespoons of instant mashed potatoes
Add 1/2 cup of old fashioned rolled oats.

The GF bread has a better texture. Still dense, but not as gluey. And if I can hold off and let it totally cool in the pan, the top doesn't sink. Well, a little, but not like it got stepped on. But it's hard to resist... The very best part of homemade bread is to saw off a heel, slather on butter, and eat it while it's warm.

My machine basket keeps leaking, so I stopped using it. I need to fix that or get rid of it. I do miss it though! Especially for making dough. For bread, I thought the secret to it not sinking was to stay away during the final rise. I swear that walking into the kitchen would always be when it didn’t get that huge lift all the way to the window.

I'm using Namaste brand GF flour. I don't want to "mix" my own GF flours to come up with the perfect flour; too many variables. This brand works well, the machine is.... ok. It is supposed to have a GF cycle, but it does a "mix" in between two rises. Which is why the GF recipe included was a total flop, I think. So I use my own recipe, run the dough cycle, then the bake cycle.

I was very peeved that there was a second mix. This was a $65 machine, not a $300 machine. But it shouldn't be advertised as a GF machine, IMO.
