Any Home Bakers Here?

I bake a Multigrain Sourdough ...one for me and one for my neighbor.
I just put a ton of all the ingredients needed in the refrigerator (Purchased from Internet from Red Bob Hill). His grains and stuff...is
SUPER. Never can find what I need...decided to order what I need and store in back of my refrigerator. Works Fine. Will be baking soon. Aria
I will need to get more AP flour soon. I am also running low on spelt flour.

A friend was raving about the sugar at the Mennonite store and how she will drive there just to buy sugar. So, when I was there I bought a 14 pound bag of sugar since I was almost out anyway. When I got home, I put on my cheaters to read the label closer and found out it is 100% CANE sugar. No wonder she was raving on the sugar.

Most of the sugar on the store shelves around here is made from Sugar Beets - which I found can have a chemically after-taste. I saw 100% cane sugar at the store but it was almost 2x the price of the regular sugar. As a plus, the stuff from the Mennonite store was a little cheaper than the regular store sugar (from beets).

We cannot get beet based sugar here in Woodland-- all of it is from sugar cane.

It is funny to see such regional differences.

When making jams or jellies, I only use cane sugar.

Well I never heard about there being a difference! The older I get the more I find out there is to know! That’s really interesting!

If you only use one type, try using the other to see if it makes a difference.

My Mom swore by sugar from sugar beets. Some foodies are into it too.

My moms grandparents were sugar beet farmers! I usually buy what’s on sale at the time. I didn’t think there would be enough difference to notice. Officially I am a type ll diabetic so I shouldn’t officially know those details! :gig
