Y'all. I think I wasn't clear. A Texas accent not clear? Lol. I was talking about my fall mums, not Christmas cacti. But I appreciate all the advice from the talented green thumbs. My mom was great with plants but it skipped a generation

My Christmas Cactus is confused..it is in full bloom.

It probably went to the grocery store and saw all the Christmas stuff.

DW has a Thanksgiving cactus, a Christmas cactus, Valentine cactus and an Easter cactus. They all look pretty much the same to me though one of them is kind of an orange/pink coral color.

Dinner tonight was wild rice blend, artichokes from the garden and seared tuna that was marinated in soy sauce (didn't count how many packets I used ) and sesame oil.

It was tasty, no pictures taken.

"Plant the mums in well-draining soil that receives full sun. Fertilize well to encourage blooms. If the mums produce spring blooms, pinch them back before late summer to encourage fall flowering. Before winter, cover plants with several inches of mulch or straw."

They aren't selling them as Christmas cacti anymore because they have no control over the conditions people keep them in.

They are now selling them as zygocacti. It is the conditions that cause when they bloom. The conditions here are right for mine to normally bloom around Thanksgiving and Easter. I do have some blooms all winter and as late as July. I believe that August is the only month that I have not had any blooms.

I have two in full bloom. I had them on my shady porch all summer and just brought them in a couple of weeks ago. It was cool weather wise and no artificial light out there. In the winter they’re in the bay window in an extra bedroom kept cool. My African violets bloom up there nearly non stop too.
