Don't believe everything that you hear. I worked in a Fish Rearing Station. We handled fish all the time without any ill effects to them.

Fish need to be taken to help maintain the population. If the fish population becomes too great for their location, it results in a stunted population.
Somehow, I knew you would chime in!

Thanks for the information!

Somebody told me, that the fish is hurt when you „catch and release“ them, and they get an infection and die anyways?! Just handeling them can also hurt their slimy skin and they get skin conditions too...I just heard it from somebody when we were watching somebody catching an releasing a big carp...

A friend of mine got back to me on another forum. He says that fish CAN get skin infections, but it usually is not caused by handling the fish. He also says that if you handle the fish properly, the fish will survive.

Fish are susceptible to a number of fungi (molds) that are in the water.

-5 this morning.
Dumb dog still demanded that I throw his sloppy ball for him. The second throw was a failure because the slobber froze to my glove and the ball kinda stuck. Yes, I throw like a girl ... I thnk I hurt my elbow a week ago trying to throw his ball.
I forgot to feed my sourdough starter last night. I will feed tonight and start Aria's recipe tomorrow morning. Shape, rise and bake after work. Hope it works ok. I have never made a sourdough bread without using extra yeast - and this long rest period after mixing all the ingredients is new to me. Hoping for a more open texture to the bread - artisan I think they call it, lol.
