Any Home Bakers Here?

Totally off topic, but I need help.

We need to get the lining of our chimney redone. Terra cotta, some has broken and is falling in. Is this possible? I'm at a loss as to where to start looking for someone to do this.
Sally, sorry I didn't respond sooner. @cavemanrich is probably your best bet. Have you had a chimney guy out to look at it? I have and thankfully I have a good wood stove as well as the fireplace. Problem I ran into is the code changed and now I need a bigger liner. They can do it, but the price was staggering, enough so that it's nice to look at the fire place, but no fires in there. The guy said they can do it, but it's basically like putting a pile driver on the roof and driving the larger stainless liner in. Then fix the stone work. I have a beautiful two sided fireplace with a built in oven. We just look at it now. My wood stove is a gassifier and works great. It's right next to the fire place and has its own chimney. I don't understand how it works, but once it's up to temp, it burns the gasses in the smoke and has a fan that blows the heat out distributing it throughout the house. Anytime we're below freezing we fire up the wood stove as the heat pump can't handle it.

Is it a Blaze King stove?

Oy! That must have been a handful making meals when they were younger!
Still is! I made pork ribs and chicken (both with BBQ sauce) in the oven for dinner tonight. Why? Because DW left for Sackville today and DD2 went up a week ago, I got to eat something I like that no one else does.

Going to be worse for a few days starting Friday night when they, DD1 and her BF get here from Sackville. No fun trying to figure out what 5 people will all eat especially with DD1's gluten and nightshade issues. DD1 and BF are heading down to his house in VA Tuesday so it will be back to whatever DD2 and DW will eat.

By the way, I may not post that often from now on because I landed a job. I’ll start working soon.
Great! Not the posting less often, but the job ;) Do you get discounts at the garden center?

Well, gives me something to do while the snow flies and winds hit 60 mph this weekend.
Must be nice not having to worry about your house blowing apart in those winds.

Who needs a Rototiller when you got Sophie!
Well, you might unless Sophie takes directions well.

I’m in zone 6a. Getting the garden ready today, actually.
Hmmm, I would have guessed that Idaho was much cooler than that. You can grow stuff I can not here in 5a.

Time for a new heat pump! The ones they sell up here still work below 0°F.

Good morning everyone!

Sorry I’ve been absent lately, life’s been crazy in good ways and in bad ways. That’s how it goes, though!

A friend and I made a 17 1/4 lb cake for a church event last weekend. Took 8 hours of work! It was delicious, though.

I don’t know if I told y’all this, but I plan to apply to culinary school sometime in the next two years which has been my lifelong dream. I had something crazy happen to me last week - I went to the party store to get a big box for the big cake, and as I went into the aisle who did I find standing there?

The chef instructor for the subject I want to study at the culinary school I dream of going to.

I was over the moon! She was so impressed with my cake plans for that weekend that she told me to take a picture for my application someday and offered me a personal private tour!

How is everyone doing?

We have a Defient Cast Iron Stove we purchased in Vermont. Burned many cords of wood. Still have wood in the wood shed and the stove. Can use when it is "extra cold". Love wood heat. We do have a Gas fired furnace. We built our house and it is insulated well. It is cozy warm.
