I believe it does. I’ve done this with two other fans several years ago.

When I tanned a snake skin years ago, I used laundry soap. That was in the 1970s though. Modern laundry soap has a lot less phosphate in it so I likely would not work.

The snake skin got best in show at the Tehama county fair in Wildlife 4-H.

You could use lye soap.

It probably has the properties you need to tan with.
