Dutch oven lasagna. Cooked over hot coals in the fire pit. Took about an hour to bake.

The recipe is as follows.

Dutch oven lasagna

1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
23 ounce spaghetti sauce.
9 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
3 eggs
2 1/4 cups cottage cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese.
13 lasagna noodles
1 1/2 teaspoons of oregano
3/4 cup of hot water

Preheat the Dutch oven with 12 coals on the bottom and 12 coals on the top. Brown the ground beef. When done, remove the beef to a large mixing bowl and add the spaghetti sauce. Mix well. In another bowl, combine the cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, egg, and oregano and mix well.

Break up lasagna noodles into the bottom of the oven. Spread a third of the meat mixture over the noodles. Spread half the cheese mixture over the meat mixture. Repeat, only use half of the remaining meat mixture and the rest of the cheese mixture. Put more noodles on the top, and add the rest of the meat mixture. Pour the hot water all around the edges of the oven. Place the lid on the oven and bake one hour or until done. Check frequently.
Thanks for the recipe!

I intentionally lost weight for my first operation, ever since Christmas, a few pounds have creeped up again 🙄 I will have to start losing them again 😬 they always say the less weight the better ( for replacement hips) I have to admit I love sweets, it doesn’t matter if it’s chocolate , cake or cookies 🙈 if it wasn’t for that, I would be one slim lady 🤪 the dog usually helps me keep off the weight but since my hip has gotten worse , I can only take her out for a very short walk ( not good for either one of us 😳)
I have two kisses of DARK CHOCOLATE....to fill the chocolate urge. That is
40 calories. It does do it for me. I can not say....no chocolate...I say have one
or 2 hershey kisses. IT WORKS FOR ME. I broke my hip....Dr repaired it.
and that is best to keep weight low too.

Is a Dutch oven one different that a normal Lasagna? Asking because I don’t think I’ve ever seen anybody break the pasta at the bottom of a lasagna before. Interesting.

I make a lasagna soup with beef stock, but instead of cottage cheese I use ricotta. Goes good with a sundried tomato and parm sourdough loaf ;)

I only made 1 wheat loaf last weekend (which is dumb, cuz it doesn't last long) It was my first time making wheat, it was really good!
