Any Home Bakers Here?

Just had some homemade sourdough bread with lentil stew…
After killing my last sourdough starter I have managed to keep the current one, ‘Betty Bubble’ happy and healthy 😎

Jared, if you love cooking, go for it ! I must add, I liked cooking and baking, after 30 years of cooking/baking almost every day for 6 ( but portion wise for almost 12 people) people, I don’t really enjoy it any more 🫣 just baked an apple sheet cake, hubby is attending his office „Christmas“ party tomorrow and said he would bring cake, all of his colleagues studied law and don’t really cook/bake, one of his colleagues offered to drive to his mother (300km away) and pick up a cake she would make, so they had home made cake ( motto of the party is „homemade“) but hubby offered , and everyone was relieved 🤪

Thats a beautiful loaf! My dad attempted making sourdough today for the first time 🥹 its a Lil burnt, but he'll get the hang of it eventually after tweaking the cooking time a little bit.😉

Hi guys, haven't been here for a while. Today I made an "artisan" loaf, not sourdough but the result is similar. Started it last night with just 4 ingredients, a wet, shaggy dough of just flour, water, yeast and salt. After letting it rise for an hour in the bread-proof temp of my oven, I let it set overnight in the fridge. This morning I shaped it, placed it on parchment paper and baked it at 450°F for 30 minutes in a pre-heated Dutch oven with the lid on, then another 12 minutes with the lid off. Here's the result:

As you can see, it has a nice, open crumb and a crispy crust. The flavor is very reminiscent of sourdough as well!

Made my first sourdough from a dry starter I got off Baker Creek’s website. I was going off YouTube videos and a random recipe I found. It’s properly hideous as I couldn’t get it to stop sticking to my hands when trying to shape it but it tastes pretty good. Only showing the inside because the outside is just horrendous!

Shape reminds me of a salmon steak.

Seriously, nice job!

The dough will stick when it over proofs.

Made some European hard rolls for christmas dinner, and while the rest and rise times (start the night before and 8 hours of rest knead proof rest knead etc day of bake) for just for 8 rolls seemed a little over the top they were delicious and will definitely make them again. I used the king arthur recipe
