Any idea whats wring with my poor girl?

I think shes stopped eating & drinking now. She took 2 tiny bites of egg & had nothing to eat or drink since the last time i was down there 2 hours ago.

Tylan 50 is a broad spectrum antibiotic. Unless the bacteria is a tricky one, it could help her start to feel better. I would try it. You can always shift over to another antibiotic if she doesn't improve in two or three days.

DH should be home soon, he has a syringe somewhere to get it in her (not a needle, dont have one of those). Started googling to see if I can find the dosing info to do it that way. She wont wont stand now.

Baytril (enrofloxacin) is probably the best antibiotic for a reproductive infection, since it treats E.coli, mycoplasma, and other possible bacteria that cause those infections. But it is banned by the FDA for use in chickens in the US due to the possibility of causing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Some people and some vets still prescribe it if you do not plan to eat the eggs or the meat. It is sold here for $23 plus shipping, and dosage is 0.05 ml per pound—0.25 ml or 1/4 ml for a 5 pound hen given orally twice a day for 5-6 days:

For easier dosage, get a free 1 ml syringe from Walmart or other pharmacy, which is used to give infants medication.

I will order some. But in the mean time I have the tylan soluble - I cant figure out how much to give her orally as she isnt drinking anymore. I feel like shes sot going to make it. I don't think I can wait to order something - I feel like its last ditch, she getting worse quick.

Thanks all, she's gone. She stopped drinking and eating altogether & would barely even open her eyes, it was time. My neighbors came over with the cone & helped as we've never had to do it before.

She was very thin, I think shed been hiding her illness for a while, as I understand they do.

So sorry that you lost her, but glad that you prevented her from suffering. It is a part of chicken keeping responsibility to not let them suffer.
