Any ideas for recovering energy after spell with bad heart?

mississippifarmboy: We Americans have gotten in habits of eating that aren't very good for us. I like meat and potatoes, too; it tastes good. But........the thing is, our bodies use the stuff we get out of food for energy AND it takes a whole lot of energy to digest our food IF we don't combine it in a way that humans are supposed to.

One of the easiest and FASTEST things that we humans can do to conserve our energy is to combine our foods properly for easy digestion and assimilation. To make this short, we need different digestive enzymes to digest our meats than we do our starches and those two digestive enzymes sort of counteract each other. If we eat meat and starches at the same time, our bodies have to use extra energy to try and digest them and we feel tired. Think turkey and dressing; how you want to sleep after a big meal with starches and proteins...

Like I said before, get a good food combining book or google it. You will be amazed at how good you can feel just by changing WHEN you eat what. Hope you feel better soon. And remember; your body is made to heal...

Thanks again everybody.

Been doing a lot of thinking anyway.

Nitro works by relaxing the muscles and blood vessels (attempting to allow more blood flow with oxygen to the heart muscle). With all your blood vessels so floppy and relaxed, it tanks your blood pressure. So that might account for feeling whooped. Ever stand up quickly and black out? Or feel each step getting weaker? That's the side effect of nitro. I still hope you can at least call your doctors! And I wish you had supplemental oxygen at home! If your plan is to have these bouts with your heart at home, the least you could do is have recovery equipment at home! I bet you've gone over this with your doctors too, I'm sorry to keep beating this dead horse. But could you try again? Your doctor who "puts it like it is" may be able to arrange some Home Health Care cardiac/respiratory service (they even deliver the tanks and equipment). Some people even use Hospice care for years and years, just to provide equipment like oxygen and pulse-oximetry monitors for comfort like you're hoping for, if treatments are not possible.

We've all prayed for your comfort and recovery. We looked at your BYC page, and we think you're neat. I consider it an honor and a gift to have the opportunity to even communicate with someone like you. I have twice your health and lived less than half your life. You're an inspiration. I know its selfish, I just want you to keep going, and be able to do it as well as you've done. But without the pain.

Ok, I'm... well... sorta flabergasted. Who's page have ya'll been reading... Ghandi's?

Jeez, I'm just a dumb country boy with a lot of chickens, bratty kids, a weird wife, a short fuse and no "shut-up gene". I already knew sourland was nuts, we're buddies so that's obvious... now I'm wondering if it's catching.

Anyway, I think ya'll have me confused with someone else, but until ya'll get it straight I'm just going to sit here on the sofa and bask in the glow.
