Any ideas for recovering energy after spell with bad heart?

I had a gastric bypass in April of last year. Six weeks after the surgery, my energy level was so low I couldn't walk 100' without having to sit down or fall down. Part of the after surgery followups was for nutrition issues because after a bypass your digestive tract absorbs nutrients differently. The dietician suggested V8 juice. My DW had the same problem a few times and a can of V8 did the trick. I think it was the pottasium in the V8 juice.

I sure hope bananas are ok for pattasium, cause I hate V8 juice. eeech. I walked to the barn this evening (About 100 feet) and just sorta supervised my son feeding and I had to go lay down for a while when I finally made it back to the house. My wife had to help me get back up the stairs. I hate being weak.

Those bananas are good for potassium. Hope you feel better. Know the feeling. My 13 year old girl was kicking my rear end. Actually she's very strong. She helped out a lot with stuff that had to get done in the spring. Wouldn't have been able to do it without her.

Same here. My 12 year old son has been having to do all the chores around here that I normally do since I had this spell. Feeding, watering, bringing in the firewood, gathering eggs, stuff like that. He's been doing it twice a week on the nights I have to work late, but he's jumped right in and done it all this week. He's a good kid and I'm proud of him. he loves the farm and probably knows about as much as I do about what needs done.
He came in this morning and I was laying on the couch with my eyes closed resting. I heard him tell his Mom that he had to go to town today because he needed laying pellets, scratch and shavings. Just sounded so grown up.

He also hooked up his incubator and set some bantam eggs, cleaned out the stable and feed the horses and pigs. All in all a pretty good young man.

I'll just be happy when I can get back out there myself.

Sorry you are feeling not so great.

Here's a couple of stories, about my dad's recovery after bypass surgery. He recovered at my apt. (Imagine my mom & dad & I living together in my 600sf 1 bedroom. (I faked a lot of emergency calls from work)

The Dr told him to walk after the surgery. It really bothered him to have any clothing rub his chest, so he asked me to get him something soft to wear.

A word to the wise: Maybe don't ask an imp to buy your clothing

So I bought him candy apple red sweats. He would do his walking gradually getting to where he knew my neighborhood better than I. And always wearing those red sweats. Eventually he was released to go back to Alaska. Months later a neighbor asked me if I had ever seen the man that wandered around in his red pajamas. Thought he must be part of a cult that was in the northwest at the time, cause they dyed all their clothing red.

He continued walking around town in Alaska every night after dinner. One day we were talking and he said that he had to buy a walking stick. One of those carved ones. He said that he was walking up on so many black bears in town that he needed it so he could whack them on the nose to keep them away from him.

Imp- feel better soon

I'm writing it down so I don't ever forget... never let an Imp buy your clothes, he likes red... and wears sandles with socks... and goes out in the snow barefoot
Thanks Imp, I do feel a little better tonight. Glad to see you back, I missed ya!
