Chirping
Found yellow chick with black stripe literally sitting in the highway shoulder alone. (This is Hawai’i, lots of random wild chickens about, but no mama or any other chickens were anywhere near). Tan chicken was found about the same time by another person being attacked by other chickens downtown, no other chicks or obvious mama nearby, maybe a few days older than mine? I took that one on so they can be buddies, and it has worked out so well. Both healthy, bonded to each other, very sweet.
The Hawai’i bird rescue guessed about a week old when I found the striped one, I’ve had it (hopefully a her!!) a week now, do they look to be 2ish weeks old?
Tan-ish chick is definitely going to be typical ‘wild’ Hawai’i chicken, I think, based on the others around when she was found and on its (her?) coloring. (Think Heihei from Moana for the males, generic brown feathers for females).
But yellow striped back chick is definitely different, a bit more petite and less ‘chunky’ and coloring is at least a mix with something else. Does it look like any particular breed at this point?
And any guesses on sex? (I know it’s super early!)
