If you can tell the sex, that'd be cool too, but they're so young. I'm completely new to chickens, so I'm hoping yall can help me out.

My son got two chicks in the past two days, a project chick from school and a RIR pullet from the feed store.

These are the only pics I could take today (busy with a sick kid) but I was hoping to get reassurance on the beige one and some info on the black one. Someone said there were dominique eggs in the incubator, but the pics on the internet don't look the same to me.

Sorry there's so many but I didn't know what angles yall would need.

As you can see in the second photo, the little black one doesn't have any markings on the top of his/her head and not a lot of color on the breast either. *shrugs*

If they're both the same age I would suspect the black one to be a boy as his wing feathers aren't as well grown as the other one. But I can't help on the breeds and I doubt many people will until they get a bit older.

My son says the black one was hatched exactly one week ago and I think the RIR is older because they were already there at the feed store the day before the black one hatched.

That's ok. We can wait. I was just wondering.

I'll be sure and post more pictures when they're a little bit older.

I'd be glad if it was a BA, they're one of the breeds I'm trying to buy right now. But I was wondering, after a massive amount of reading/looking at pictures, is it possible that it could be a black sex link? (Which I hadn't heard about until today...)

Whatever it is, it is feisty and loves my kids. Jesse, the black one, will follow them around the yard and climb into their laps.

The RIR, Joey, is taking longer to warm up to the family.
