Any Insight?

I had one come after my border collie the other night and it wasn't even dark out and I wasn't 30' away. No more free grazing for my ducks! I was so lucky they weren't out foraging like they usually are! I never would have been able to control that situation.
Luckily everyone is ok. It's been a bad predator year that is for sure. I wish our birds had a way to protect themselves.

I thought electric netting would keep my guys safe. Coyote came over and ate my gander. It's pretty amazing to get a 20 lb gander over an electric fence. The rest of the birds will not come outside anymore.
I don't think the netting has much of a charge. Not like the actual livestock wire. I made a set up where I took chicken wire fencing and supported it on PVC poles that were set over metal posts hammered into the ground. The PVC will not stand on its own and the chicken wire has to be completely isolated from anything conductive. I electrified the entire run of chicken wire with a 60,000 volt livestock charger. Nothing got through it. It didn't quite touch the ground but nothing went under it either.
This was a barrier fence around the chicken coop, run and my garden. It was also fairly cheap. The expensive part was the charger. This was the "weed burner" type that keeps grass from touching the wire and shorting out the current.

I bought a couple rolls and it tears easily with the wind and I find pieces all over the yard. Is that normal? I'm afraid the ducks will eat it and then we will have another problem!

The stuff I bought was black. small 1 inch squares?. I don't have the name any more but it doesn't seem to want to rip. I have to cut it with scissors. I had it over the top of my run and it even supported a fair amount of snow before it pulled out the staples and collapsed. After that I switched to the reflective scare tape and that works to for predators with wings.
