Willow went to the vet today for her recheck and was supposed to have her sutures removed. It turns out the blackened skin is going to have to be removed and debrided, then the area needs to be sutured. The vet will do it tomorrow.
This isn’t common and the vet says he has never seen this before. I used to work at a vet hospital as a tech (for dogs and cats) and have also never seen anything like this. The area isn’t directly where the sutures are, it’s almost parallel to it.
My poor Willow, she was just getting back to her old self. I’m now concerned something else is going on, an underlying condition we don’t know about yet. Or it’s just a weird coincidence to what should have been a routine procedure. Will provide an update after her next surgery is done. I feel so bad putting her through all this, I really hope this is the last setback she has.
