Any Metalheads out there?

I was at Mayehm in Detroit (yes Michwrangler MI people do love to rock) we were the first sold out mayhem show. JD was trying to fit in as much music as he could cause Rob was hogging their time! (Rob put on a darn good show though) It cost Korn thousands of dollars if they went over their time at the end. So they only got like 50 minutes to play, and that was playing about 10 min of overtime.

I have yet to see anyone mention Motorhead! LOL!

Caught me did ya? I love harpos....

Saw .........

Deth in General
Hydrymind
Superjoint Ritual (with Phil Anselmo)

And a slew of others..

Kinda eerie that all us Michiganiacs all ended up at the same concerts

A co-worker of mine had tickets for Metallica at Pine Knob (back when it was still Pine Knob in 1998) and said that if his friend didn't go, he'd call me. Well, his friend didn't end up going and he asked another co-worker. I was so ticked Monday morning "Mat doesn't even LIKE Metallica!!"

We don't get many options.... I just find it funny that so many of us all have chickens too!

I've been to a few, not enough though!!

Motorhead/Deo/IronMaiden
Deftones/Blacksabbath
Megadeath/BioHazard
Danzig/Metalica
Suicidal tendancies/Metalica
lacona coil/type o (hmmmmmmm... maybe I wasn't at the 95 show it was 03?) it's all a blur anyway!!!
5fdp/lambofgod/robzombie/korn
there's more but it's been a while!

It's been 12 years since I've been to a concert (unless small bars with unknown bands count!)

Actually, I mentioned it on another thread, but my husband was a musician--played bass--in a number of Top 40, polka and rock bands. In his travels and gigs, he's met Ozzy, Jimmy Page (when he was with The Firm), Ted Nugent and he's jammed with Rush up at Sault Ste. Marie. He's met others too. DH is older than I am by about 20 some years so he likes a lot more of the older stuff. Going anyhwere and listening to the radio with him is a bit like watching VH1 Behind the Music. He's so full of trivia. We'll hear "Layla" on the radio and DH will start going on about Ginger Baker the drummer or we'll be station surfing and Phil Collins will come and and DH knows that Collins' original band was called Captain Beyond and he saw them at some venue ....

Although, DH was in the army at the very end of the Vietnam War 1972-1973. He can't stand Neil Young and almost broke my car radio when "Ohio" came on. My bro, who played for a Big 10 college at that time, got us tickets to when his team played Kent State. "Uh, bro, you REALLY don't want me to take husband to THAT game." We ended up going to the Hawaii game instead ... not in Hawaii though

I don't care much for the classifications of music, so I'm not certain that they would count as "metal", but has anyone mentioned Clutch?? I LOVE them. Also Tool and Deftones. I'm a big fan of artist that mix heavy/hard rock with melodics. Much like old school Metallica and Pantera.

I like a lot of different music, mostly in the broad rock genre, but I do enjoy some bluegrass and old blues/jazz artists as well.

While you are looking for new music, check out some old punk! The Ramones are a easy place to start. Also, although I don't think they really count as "punk"The Pixes are great!

If you end up liking the sound of the Pixies, you might like old Modest Mouse as well. They are probably on my playlist the most right now because their music puts me in a good mood.

I went to a Metallica concert sometime in the mid-late 90's... Anyhoodles, somebody caught on fire, was put out and then they jumped right into Cat Scratch fever with I believe uncle Tedly.. But honestly, I wasn't driving home from that concert, so my memory is VERY VERY poor, and I spent hours in the pit. I have the scars, but not many memories.

I listen to metal, rock and alternative. I can deal with country, but HATE rap and hip hop. The closest I get to rap is Korn and Limp Bizkit, even then some of the songs I don't like. Metallic(not the new stuff), GN'R, Megadeth, Ozzy, Nickelback, Ratt, Poison, Motley Crew, Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, Pink Floyd, System of a Down, Offspring, Disturbed, Godsmack. Lots more but that is all I can think of without going through my CD's.

And of course a huge influence on Metallica ... Diamondhead!

Even though The Offspring are more punk than metal, went to THAT concert at Cobo Hall winter of '95 ... Boyd? There was also an ICP concert and a Red Wings game that night (that they won) Downtown Detroit was REALLY wild that night,
