Any Of You Ever lived In A Haunted House?

I've read that if you invite ghosts (via seance or whatever) that you open up a hole that's very hard to close and normally the bad ghosts enter, not the good ones. I've never actually had a ghostly experience personally, but it facinates me of the unknown.

I just read all 14 pages... with a smile on my face quite often.

Someone mentioned astral projections... since I was very young I've been extremely good at what my friends refer to as "zoning out"... but while I'm staring into space there's a bit of my brain that detaches and sort of goes up and watches myself from above. Sometimes it moves around a bit, but usually it just sort of watches me. That is, I watch me... I recently became very interested in animal totems (you'd be amazed... almost every culture in the world has some variation of animal totems) and after long meditation with no clues as to my core totem (not just a messenger) I decided to try the zoning out thing... It worked- my floating bit identified an Osprey hovering at about its level. I've honed the zoning out and can now travel much farther... I've gone a couple miles so far, but just to places I actually know (so far).
Wow... I can't believe I just said that. You guys probably think I'm crazy now

Our former house, built in the early 1900's, had a presence, not really a ghost just a sort of aura that appeared at various spots in various times. It loved the room that used to be mine when I was very very young but was the guest room for years before we moved out. An old lady used to live in the house; we don't know if she died there or not but she was close friends with an elderly woman across the street who loved out chickens- I'd come bring them to her a few times a month. When I was quite young, about four, I remember being really upset and crying myself to sleep... not sure if it was a dream or not but an older woman in a nightgown sitting on my bed patting my knees comfortingly.

Now we have a possessed goldfinch that attacks our windows OVER and OVER and OVER... Always the same one, a male with a darker smudge across its back that others don't have. We like to say that it's Gus, the elderly man who owned the house before us (again, no idea where he died) and he's mad that we're renovating his house, LOL.

The most extreme paranormal experience I've really had was about a month ago, actually. (Don't laugh, it's pretty weak... I'm not even in high school yet.) Before I start, you should know that I have a cat but she was across the house sleeping at this time (I went and found her afterwards in confusion).
I came into my room and switched on my light at about nine-thirty PM. For a fleeting moment that seemed a lot longer than it really was, I saw a small black shadow that perfectly resembled a cat scampering/bounding away with its tail straight up in the air run down the shortish area between my bed and my bookshelf and disappear into the wall. It wasn't just a trick of my eyes either- I heard distinct galloping pawsteps (you know, the kind that practically shout PLAY WITH ME!) that matched the cat's stride perfectly. I sort of stood there stupidly for a moment, went and found my cat (she had been on her sleeping spot a while; the cushion was warm) then came back to my room (with my cat) and stared at the wall. My cat and I have heard noises coming from that one spot in the wall since we moved into this house but I always assumed it was a rodent or something. My cat LOVES that spot and follows invisible things with her eyes frequently everywhere in the house. So who knows? I felt rather honored, not at all scared. I mean, it was pretty small- about nine inches long- so it wasn't threatening at all. I'm hoping to get a kitten playmate for my cat soon, maybe the ghost cat will be pleased about that.

I'm the sort of person who would LOVE IT if a ghost sat down and chatted with me.

Oh yes: when I was really, really, REALLY young (like just born) my parents, who dealt in Danish antiques, bought a neat old trunk with big lizards painted on it. But according to them it was "evil"... my grandparents took it and haven't had any trouble with it. But then again, my parents and I are pretty open to the whole ghost thing.

I am intreged by all these stories. I just read everyone.

I have had lots happen in my life. Most takes place at my grandparents house. I lived with my grandmother just before she had her stoke and ended up in the nursing home. Then I lived there for 4 years. First by myself and then with a BF and then my DH and then we had our oldest child. My mother lives there now.

The house was built in early-1800's. It started off as just a one room house and was added on to. The deed to the house goes back to the civil war though. A confederate soldior was given the land as payment for his time in the civil war. The house and land is in central Wisconsin.

My grandfather died in the livingroom. He wanted to die at home with his family around him. He had cancer and died within a month.

When I lived there things would go missing. I would set something down, like my comb for instance, and turn to grab something of the shelf and turn back and the comb be gone. I would look everywhere for it and find it in the other room on a table.

Then there was a time that my ex-BF was upstairs still sleeping because he worked swingshift. I went downstairs and started breakfast for myself and I brought my mama cat down with me. I shut the door at the bottom of the steps so she couldn't go back up. She was rubbing my legs all morning, following me as I cooked and did the dishes. BF comes down from upstairs and swears that the cat kept rubbing on his face trying to wake him and bit him in the nose. He had teeth marks there. But I only had the one cat and she WAS with me....ALL MORNING.

Then when my DH and I had our oldest, my Dh was sitting on the couch with our 5 month old and says my son kept reaching for the one wall in the the livingroom. He was acting like he was playing with someone. My DH didn't know that that was the spot that my grandfather used to have his chair and would smoke his pipe. And that was the same spot that my grandfather died in his hospital bed. So I believe that my grandfather was playing with my son.

I had friends that wouldn't even go into the livingroom. Said that there where bad vibes. My grandfather was a really good man. Every kind and gentle. So I don't think it was him.

The things that got moved I believe it was children. I would sometimes hear gigling and running upstairs when no one else was with me. And when my mother remodeled in 2000, they found old shoes above a few doorways. Shoes from the 1800's and old news papers. In the cemetary down the road, there are a lot of children there that died then from fever and pox. It could be that some of them had lived in that house.

Other things have happened too. Maybe I'll post more later.

These are freaking me out. I've had 2 experiences (1 of which ive only heard about)

1st: A B&B is next to the house, which is next to ours, if that makes sense. The owner said that whilst he was sitting by the fire one night, I white figure appeared by him, and looked down at him. It disappeared in a few seconds.

2nd: I couldn't get to sleep one night, and I read until about 2am. I looked out my door into the upstairs landing, to see a white glowing figure walking past.

I feel like crying. I burst into tears, my dad came in, and my brother joined me for the night.

Some of your stories even make me feel like crying, particularly the one about the man who killed his kids and committed suicide and the one about the child who crawled onto the fire :'(

Has anyone near or from Ontario ever visited the blue ghost tunnels? I've seen youtube videos of people going and while the paranormal activity seems a bit flaky, the tunnel itself looks scary enough, especially at night.

Or, has anyone tried "bloody mary?". I must have chickened out a dozen times when I was a kid during sleepovers! I don't think I could do it to this day, and looking in mirrors in the dark creeps me out.
