Any One Put In There Seed Orders Yet?

yeah, it had always been a temptation to start the seeds far too early for me! I've learned. Mostly.

I usually content myself this early with starting indoor stuff, like the herbs I have growing now, and sprouts for the chickens. At least I get to plant seeds! LOL

And if we still lived in Norwich, I'd be comin' for that stand!

We typically get our seeds from the feed store, but I think maybe I should start ordering. Where would you recommend I order from?

This will be my first year gardening. I have a 20x40 area that is fenced and has a net over it. (former pheasant coop/run)

It is just my husband and I so I dont want to have alot that may go to waste. I will freeze and can, but I am looking at the following:

Bush beans
Peas
onion
carrots
green peppers
cherry tomatoes
paste tomatoes (for marinara)
larger type tomatoes (for salsa)

Also thinking of maybe strawberries or cucumbers.

So far I have only gotten 1 seed catalog in the mail. www.underwoodgardens.com
i am waiting on another 5......

I ordered a TON from Gurneys...of course the icing on that cake was if you bought $50 worth of stuff you got to take $25 off! It might not sound like a great deal to some people but it sure meant something to me.

Some of what I ordered: a mix of heirloom tomatoes, rutabagas, carrots, cucumbers, Yukon gold potatoes, beans, sunflowers etc.
I didnt like their selection of pumpkins because they really didnt have any pie pumpkins, well I actually want a pumpkin that will double both for Halloween and pies...so will get those somewhere else.

Finally sent in $75 worth of orders to Johnny's and Harris--everything but tomato/pepper plants and potatoes (which I'll buy locally). Now all we have to do is get rid of the snow--2 feet on the ground and another possible 2 on the way tomorrow and Wed.

Just placed my order with annies heirloom seeds. I saved $15-20 ordering from her instead of a couple others that I have looked at.

What I ordered:

2 cherry type tomatoes (tiny tim & Koralik)
amish paste tomato
marglobe tomato
Green peppers
bush beans
peas
carrots
onions
basil
chives
cucumbers

And I bought a bag of inoculant since this will be the first year garden at our new house.

Total order including shipping was $40. Not bad considering I got everything I wanted (other than strawberries) plus a bag of inoculant.

Just gotta get some starting trays and soil now so I get get them started in a few weeks.
