Excellent Idea! I have been miserly myself lately, heating oil bills K I L L I N G M E. If it was just me, I would live with it way low, but hubby and children act like I am abusing them if it goes lower than 63. Today here in Upstate NY, it is actually warm. My highlight of the day is I was able to clear up all the frozen manure from the dumpster I am using at the moment that was hindering me from dumping it easily. Boy did I wreak of Manure when I came in the house afterward. Up to a

My last hold out is one of my Black Australorp who even though she is a hatchery bird, I think she showing some very nice lines along being a solid Utility pullet, and favors more Heritage lines. She is stunning. Makes sense she would be the latest to develop as well. Who knows what Meyer uses for breeding stock. Maybe she gets some nice breeding stock to improve lines some times. I'd love to ask and find out.
That should be fine. The lemon doesn't taste that strong anyway. You could also probably sub a tsp of vanilla extract for the lemon juice. Add the preserves before baking...not too much or it'll bubble over the side of the cookies. I think I add about 1/2 tsp.Oh Brooster, question about the recipe. If I leave out the lemon peel, would they just be regular shortbread cookies? And also, if I too chose to do the thumbprint, do I add the preserves before or after cooking? I never bake, but would love to start. Thanks...
