Hoping thr Greta comes home safely.


Did some gardening today, then went to feed the girls. So my egg count for January is 12. Today I finally found out which two of my nine girls are laying, Spice (RIR) is laying and also Clove (BR). They both have been consistant with laying from the day the started except for one day. Wondering why my other girls have not started yet????

Love my camera! Now that I have re arranged the coop the girls are going in the nesting boxes and Rosie layed in there today! Now my camera shows that the 5 oldest are checking out the nests! More eggs are soon coming down the road I see

Oh this is great news! I'm so happy they are finally going into the nests! That is such a good feeling, to see them all cozy in there. Can't wait till warm weather, and tons of eggs!

Well I wish I had better news for you all but as of now 6:11PM Greta still has not come home. I have look EVERYWHERE and still no feathers or blood or body anywhere. But on a side note my girls must have knew I needed a laugh today. Someone laid a fart egg it weighs .7 ounce.

Hi everyone! I hope I am posting this in the right place. I am so eggcited to tell everyone I got my first egg ever this afternoon! We live in San Diego county, Vista, Ca. Anyone from these parts? I did also find another egg but it was cracked and everthing was gone. Does that mean that one of the hens ate it? First time ever having chickens. I wasnt looking everyday for eggs because they told us at the feed store they might not lay until spring.That is why I am so surprised and tickled. There is only two hens in this flock. Here is a pix....

You are keeping all of us up with your humor, fart egg.. too funny! I just wish Greta would come home for you! So sorry love, and I know this too will be my fate. I free range them, and sometimes come in after dark, and close up, but always wonder when the day will come when I am missing one..

Is there any way she could have gotten closed in a shed or something like that? Neighbors garage? I know you'd probably hear her by now. My girls have been wandering far away from each other. Duke gets a little batty, and runs back and forth, calling to them. They don't seem to listen very well. I keep thinking when the day comes, all the stragglers will be sorry. I make Jack herd them up when they get all spread out like that.
