Any one want to join me in waiting for eggs, posting and comparing notes?

Good Morning everyone!

Ha ha! love the pic. Funny how the world works. It's 11.20pm Monday our time and I am off to bed. I only had time to catch up with some of the posts, always a pleasure, though. Whilst camping, our house-cat-chicken sitter did really well. Whilst camping., we saw a 6 foot long Lace Monitor Lizard (aka Goanna) where we camped, so bold he walked into our camp kitchen and over our food trying to get into stuff. They LOVE eggs and small chicks, so I understand why Aussie chook owners hate them, but they are beautiful creatures and were here first, after all. I will find a good photo to post to y'all if you're interested. I feel my four girls came running up to me with special interest after my first time away from them. Maybe the sitter didn't give them as many treats as me (of course!). Spike the cat now sticks to me like a puppy. Ahhhh. it's nice to be home....

Well---yesterday was disappointing. I had three girls in the coop in the morning. Laying--or so I thought. I usually get two eggs a day. Yesterday--on the most beautiful day of their laying lives--NONE!

What's up with that? Today only one so far. I thought they were supposed to lay better in nice weather. I think mine decided to take a "sun vacation".

I've had inconsistent laying over the last 2 days too. maybe they are on spring break! LOL

Yes, I definitely need to see a picture of this 6 foot lizard!

We have to worry about bears when we camp...but giant lizards? Not so much.

Oh I heard this was a way to get fresh eggs hard boiled and easy to peel :) I'll have to try it out...

Mee tooo. I don't usually have trouble peeling eggs but the last time I did it at Christmas I was taking them to a women's luncheon and I was so embarrassed at how they turned out. I haven't even wanted to try again. Now my eggs are too fresh to even try it.

I just filled their feeder yesterday. With some of that Purina feed I got at Wilco. They have had it before and they liked it. It's the same place that makes their off brand food they eat. Well they decided they like to eat off the ground rather then out of the feeder. They use to do this with the crumble that's why I stopped buying them it. I can't hang the feeder off of any thing so I put it up higher for them when they were digging out the crumble with their feet. Maybe fermented feed might be the way to go. I just hate the fact that I spent good money for the feeder and wont be able to use it for the fermented feed.
