Any one want to join me in waiting for eggs, posting and comparing notes?

I agree with Countrygirl - I am south of her and our temps are hitting the 80's.
Starts early and then we scorch starting in June- Sept.(that's when we will
be wanting to visit all of you in snow country)

I Have my mini veggie/herb garden taking off and some flower pots happy-ing up the back yard. Grass is
getting greener every day. Just have to finish weeding and trim back the frozen/dead
stuff for it to start looking real purdy! This is my favorite time of year here in AZ.

I wish I could plant!! Too early yet, although I have some started indoors... we will still get a couple more frosts at least and possibly a last snow, usually on or around Easter. We'll see... I usually have to wait on most things for planting outdoors until May. It's crazy that over the weekend it was warm enough that some of the chickens were panting!

Hello all... I'm back. Just caught up on the post I missed. I am still trying to get my land legs back.... it feels like my computer and chair are moving... like the ocean waves...
The trip was fun but a little cool... overcast most of the time but I find that beautiful as well. We did see some dolphins playing beside the ship... The food was amazing in Ensanada and on board ship. Funny... there was a news crew there when we were boarding the ship. We had not heard yet that a 3rd Carnival ship had issues. I guess they were getting establishing shots ... just in case. But we had no issues and a lot of fun.
Goodness those chicks are amazing everyone. It is so cute the pics of the hatches. Congrats on all who are brave enough to try... I would be a nerves wreck and yes... I would want to keep them all. Brooster I hope you do keep the little green chick... but I understand if you don't. Can you tell if it is a roo or not?
I will try to get some pics up-loaded later... when things stop moving....

Hey guys!

Been busy over here with the new hatch. Catsol, the little green chick is super cute, but I'll probably sell it. I had planned on selling the entire hatch, but I had 2 late hatchers on day 23, and both chicks have curled toes and spraddle leg. So I'm now busy making splits and cardboard shoes, plus chick rehab every few hours. It's cute but frustrating. I'm not going to sell the disabled chicks. I'm not sure if they'll make it, but if they do, I'll be keeping them. I've had chicks recover from this before, but it seems like the ones who do recover, show improvement in the first day?

I'm basically a pediatric chicken nurse this week.

A pediatric chicken nurse, that's so funny. LOL I believe I'm now a chicken psychologist - who knew? My girls are all behaving and getting along, not sure what happened but I'll take it. My husband thinks it's because it's colder again and she's too busy trying to stay warm. We'll have to see what happens if, and when, it ever gets warm. 30 MPH winds today and in the 20s-seriously. Colder tomorrow they say, Happy Spring in NW Ohio. I let the girls out last evening for some free range time and they became obsessed with eating the paint off my fence and barn. This can't be good for them?? I tried constantly to sway them but they kept going back for more. I finally got them inside their run and play time was over. Not sure why they went crazy for it all of a sudden. I believe it is laytex but still.... Also, yesterday they were all sitting on the outside roost and two of them were singing the egg song-- no one was inside laying. Not sure what that was about? I went out and checked to see if something was weird with the nest boxes but everything was fine so don't know but I do enjoy the song.

on a sadder note, i'm looking for a job so I can return to work and pay for my new hobby :( Not looking forward to it as I thought summer days watching the chickens play was going to be so much fun and I just perfected my bread making skills-- alas, duty calls.

So for the first time one of my new girls chimed in with Hermia and Slo-fro(the rooster) when she went in and sang the egg out. It was a red sex link. Fingers crossed that we get more eggs sooner rather than later.

First of all, I want to say a big "bless you" to KDWAG...splints and cardboard shoes! What am amazing chickie mama you are!!!

Second....it was our first 3 EGG DAY!!!!! They are mostly still small, but they are little beauties! I am so proud of my girls -- I just wish I knew exactly who to be proud of! LOL

This many in 5 days!!!!!
