What is everyone here using to incubate with?

What does BCM mean? I am still a newbie around here! I thought I had have myself one too on my first batch! But all that made it to lockdown hatched. Had 10 out of 1414 hatch! This was my first hatch ever out of my home made incubator!! Now I am on my 2nd batch and I have to stop or Imma run out of room! Plus is my first time having silkies!

i put in 18 d'uccle and 3 french standered bcm today. would have 4 bcm but i cracked the one that had been in the bator for 8 days

i had no way to really hatch it and i didnt think that it was fertil till i opened it the rest of the way and feel really bad that i accidently cracked it.

BCM = Black Copper Marans. It took me a while to figure out some of the Internet-Chicken slang, but I think I'm getting there.

Although I am still learning a lot just from this website, I love it!

Sounds like you had a great hatch! This will be my first time with Sizzles! I am going to start on a new coop for them shortly so they can have their own space away from my other chickens with lower nesting boxes and perches.

I know what you mean about telling yourself to stop though because I already have another 12+ Splash Marans eggs ordered which will arrive around the end of the month. After that I am done until spring or else I'll end up with chickens in my house all winter!

Oh boy, that changed fast! My other incubator is a Reptipro 5000 and while it holds humidity great, I am so far unimpressed with the stability of the temperature, it just doesn't want to stay stable, so I decided to use that as just my hatcher. I'm also waiting on a backordered Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco. Cannot wait for that to arrive! Hopefully before my next eggs get here!

I have heard great things about them, I just went with the Brinsea because I thought I would only need to have space for a few eggs, lau Oh boy, that changed fast! My other incubator is a Reptipro 5000 and while it holds humidity great, I am so far unimpressed with the stability of the temperature, it just doesn't want to stay stable, so I decided to use that as just my hatcher. I'm also waiting on a backordered Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco. Cannot wait for that to arrive! Hopefully before my next eggs get here!

I like it so much I have 2, they were recommended as the best for the price, and definitely an improvement over the old LG I was using!

Doh! DD turned off the turner yesterday to plug in her cd player ...just now discovered that...kids.

some of the eggs i set today are 10-11 days old most told me to toss them including the seller but i decieded to go ahead and set them who knows they might just develop although its a slim chance

Wish I could order more eggs im at my limit... I am gonna order some chicks this spring once it gets warm out so I can have some larger eggs! Oo and some colored eggs too!!!
