Anybody else set eggs today? Or due around the 29th?

I'm putting in 22 heritage RIR's today and have another 50 or so going in this weekend...EE's for fun, Black Leghorns, Buttercups, Penciled Rocks and possibly some Australorps if so it will be well over 60 going in.Costs just as much to run full turners as one that isn't

I have one bator on lockdown today though RIR, Silkies and Pensedenca's and one going Thursday-Exechequer leghorns,Wellsummers and Andalusians. One day next week is Mille Fleur leghorns and Heritage Delaware's
Lots of fuzzy butts in the near future

I'm probably going to wind it down after this for the year.

I took a peek at 1 last night and I am pretty sure by looking at those images that I saw veins. When I candled before I put them in I didn't see any cracks or anything so I am assuming what I saw was veins. If I have some time tonight, I will do some more and take some pics. Thanks for the info and link.

HBueler: Wow... you've got a lot going. I go tomorrowto pick up some pekin and pekin x eggs and then hopefully on Fri to get some Welsh Harlequin eggs.

Justme: Oh okay. That makes a bit more sense lol. I plan on candling mine either late tonight or just wait until tomorrow to candle again. I'm gonna try to get some pictures at some point here, if I can get the DF to help. :p

Cammy: Welcome and good luck. I want to get some silkies eventually. I think they're really cute with all their fluff!

Once you start it's hard to stop

Actually we have a family member very ill and I'm trying to get everything hatched just in case I have to leave quickly...needing to have my flock where I want it by spring and decided to go crazy and hatch hatch hatch now in hopes I can have the bators empty soon.
Plus, I keep the babies outside and want some feathers on them before it gets real cool.
I candle on day 4-5 to see how they are going and they are my daughters science project this fall so she candles some each day but nothing gets tossed until day 10 no matter how bleak it's looking. Some won't show any signs of life until you have given up hope

So today is day five for me. This has been an awesome day for me! I met a really cool vet today at work, one of my ducks laid their first egg, and... I saw the hearts beat in my eggs!!!

My cracked egg does look like it has blood ring. 11 out of 12 is good though!

Sound like you had a great day

Congrats on the duck egg and the heartbeat!!!

I took a peek last night and I think I see 3 with embryo and veins. A few may be blood rings and the rest just look clear. I need to make a better candeler so I can get a better look.

I don't understand how setting eggs at different times works. Are they all in the same bator? Doesn't it mess things up when it comes to lock down time and the humidity rockets?

Explanations would be much appreciated!
