Anybody else set eggs today? Or due around the 29th?

I don't understand how setting eggs at different times works. Are they all in the same bator? Doesn't it mess things up when it comes to lock down time and the humidity rockets?

Explanations would be much appreciated!

I have several bators all with different hatching dates inside. I try to set as many at one time as I can so I can have a hatch crazy few days then a break for a few.
I have a seperate bator just for hatching. On day 18 the eggs are removed from the turner and placed in my hatcher. I allow about 5 days in the hatcher-3 lockdown and 2 to hatch.Bleach, sun and repeat

I do try and make sure about every 3-4 sets coming out of the bator I can have it empty long enough for a bleaching and sunning-about once a month sometimes more...as often as I can!
Right now we have 96 in bators some are in lockdown and others are dth 9/17 and 9/19 running 2 hatchers on this round. Next round is about 85 eggs and then hopefully most will be done so they can get feathered out before it gets cold

Tonight I can see 6 that are growing and 3 more that are maybe growing. 2 look like blood rings and the rest look clear. I'm happy to have more than the 3 I saw last night growing in there

I checked mine tonight (Day 6). I had the cracked egg have a blood ring but everyone else was swimming around. I was very excited to actually see them move. I called the DF into the bathroom to see. He thought it was cool but doesn't really care about them. He's so sweet though. He came and watched just to appease me! I go tomorrow to get a dozen+ welsh harlequin eggs. I'm hoping I can manage three different hatch dates lol. That means that I'll have 33+ eggs in the bator lol.

I cracked open the egg with the blood ring. That was weird looking. It had a little embryo and then nothing else but the ring. Strange. Oh well. If the rest hatch, I think that 11 out of 12 eggs is great in my little homemade bator!

Just me: That's great! I hope the other three grow for you. I'm so excited about my hopeful hatches and I'm already addicted!

I set 11 health food store eggs 9/9/09 (bought a dozen, but one got cracked

,)I am nervous, and have good reasons:

Set 18 eggs from a friend 2/28/09.14 hatched out of the 18,but two needed help, one was born with it's stomach open, one was smaller than the others and got bullied, and one was crippled.

Set 6 eggs from WalMart 8/29/09.All these eggs were bad.

What problems will I have next?!?

I made some changes to my candeling method, much easier to see tonight

. I have 9 growing strong and 1 that might be but it is a very small egg and it is very pourus so it is hard to see into bit I don;t think it is clear and I don't see a blood ring. I have 5 that are clear and 4 that I think are blood rings, one looks like it started casue I see an embie and a ring

. I am going to grab the clear ones, take pics and post another thread to make sure I am seeing what I think I am before I discard them. Not too bad for my 1st hatch so far

One more interesting point

All of my blood rings were on one side of the bator. I have an LG with fan and older style turner (I guess my feed store doesn;t sell too many) and I put 4 or 5 eggs in the 4 outside rows and have the thermo's in the middle. The left side of the bator is towards my fridge and the right side is towards my sink with a window above it. The blood rings were on the right side, towards the window. I do have the window closed. I moved all of my good eggs over to the left side. Hmmmm.....

I candled mine today. Out of the 10 polish 1 appears to have a blood ring and 2 look like clears. But its only day 4, I'll candle again on day 10 and then toss them. All the other eggs appear good so far! But the polish are the most important to me. Here's hoping it turns out well.
