Anybody else set eggs today? Or due around the 29th?

Hi everyone...I'd like to join as well. I have eggs that are due to hatch on the 16th...the 24, 25 and 28. The eggs are Speckled Sussex, EE, Golden Sebright, Frizzled cochin, Polish, Mille Fleur and Columbian Cochin...and also some mutt eggs. It is in a homemade incubator. The eggs are al shipped except the mutts....

My eleven babies are going to be very active!I hope they can find a home that will let them free range.I can't keep them because my Dad is allergic to chicks. The eggs are rolling all over the place!!!!!!!I would have sworn I'd seen one rock, but it's way too early.Oh,dear!I hope all this energy helps them ge out of thier egg!!!!!!!!

Well, last night was day 8 for my EE eggs and day 3 for the rouen and pekin eggs. It was also day 1 for the welsh harlequin eggs. I candled last night to see how everyone was doings and here are the updates.

EE eggs... out of the 11 remaining eggs, 10 had a lot of movement. The last egg (number 12) looks like a quiter. It looks like it has a possible bloodring, but I'm going to give it a couple days to see what happens.

Pekin and Rouen eggs... well... I think that duck eggs must develop slower than chicken eggs. Anyways, the 3 rouen eggs had visible spots on the yolks, which I'm thinking are embryos. The pekin eggs looked like they might have a spot on the yolk, but it was hard to tell. I'm going to check them again tonight, as well as the chicken eggs.

It's been awesome to be able to keep track of the growth of my eggs and I love seeing the embryos "swimming" around in their eggs. It's so neat!!

Justme: That is odd. Perhaps moving the eggs will help. I wonder why this happened? Any clue as to why only one side was affected?

Taraann: I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! Good luck.

chickenlittle and aBRG2far: Welcome and good luck. This is my first hatch as well and it's been pretty amazing to be able to see everything happening.

Fluffy: How cool is that!!! I hope mine do that. I'm sure you'll be able to find them homes. If not, to you have a shed or something you can keep them in with a heat lamp? Good luck and keep us up to speed on the hatch.

Duckboatprincess. I have found that my duck eggs do take longer to notice development. My muscovy eggs at day 10 were comparable to my chicken eggs at day 4. I found my ducks trickier to hatch the little stinkers BUT so darn cute!

I just set a ton of eggs on the 10th and 11th, but 6 Mottled Houdans were lost by the mail for a couple of days, so they may not make it. I have something hatching every couple of days...

I also set 21 d'Uccles and...I can't remember...Oh! Aracaunas, Ameraucanas and some assorted others!

I won't candle until day 7 or 8.

Taraann: Oh okay... that stinks! I was hoping to see something by day 4. Oh well... good things come to those who wait I suppose.

Anyways, I candled the EE eggs tonight and here's what I've found:

#12 was definately a quitter. There was a massive bloodring, so I cracked it to see what it looked like. It must have quit 2 days ago or so I'm thinking.

#4 has a huge aircell compared to the rest of the eggs, but it appears to have grown some since last night and was still moving, so I'm going to wait and see what happens.

#8 has grown as well, but it seems to have very little movement compare to the others. I don't know what that means, but like #4, I'm going to see what happens.

All of the other eggs are moving vigorously and show definate growth. #11 is my favorite by far... I saw its feet!! That was so neat seeing its tiny little toes. Has anyone else experienced this?\\

How are everyone else's eggs doing?
