Anybody else set eggs today? Or due around the 29th?

LOL I thought I'd come over and say hi, I have eggs due:
this week, two more; next week possibly three more; the ones for the 30th are iffy - the roo may not be getting through her feathers LOL - her eggs are weirdly hard to candle for a sizzle, and the serama I set last Fri are due around Oct 1st, but 9 of twelve are definitely starters! Two ifs and one probably not in the serama group - but here, if it doesn't leak and it doesn't stink it goes for the whole ride.

I tossed the first of the eggs last night. The two clears I will continue to leave until they stink. But one had a definite blood ring and a little black spot, so it got tossed. But I went to the Wednesday market(a market here where they sell fresh produce and stuff). I saw some free range eggs for 2.25 a dozen, they were a nice dark dark brown.

Anyways brought them home and cracked open 2, both fertile. SO the other 10 were popped in the bator. Should be interesting to see what I get, probably Barred rocks, or a mix of some kind but its fun to be surprised(if ant even hatch).

And cheap eggs are always lovely and uncomplicated

I have 11 of 12 seramas now officially going and am collecting some delaware eggs to do.

The test eggs in the redwood incubator are going, though I've not candled them all. Today I punted and stopped using the ancient turner designed for LARGE hen eggs, or jumbos and went for cartons and tilting because they're all pullet eggs I'm working with now. They were free and they are pullet eggs, so, no high expectations, they're also my weird summer mixes, so that should be fun.

I'm just hatching and selling off most of what I hatch as barnyard irregulars, for practically nothing. I'm just practicing. I need first generation from my birchen roo pullets, and a chocolate cockeral in seramas and sizzles any color stay, only delawares stay to grow out.

All the other mutts, off colors etc all go for 50 cents...

walkswithdogs,
when are your seramas due to hatch? mine are on the 29th. my first try and they were shipped. luck to us both. where did you get your eggs? mine are from florida and i live in california.

Hey guys... just wondered how everything is going for you. I candled last night. Here's my little big update Lol:

EEs:
Day12: All of the 10 remaining eggs had actively moving embryos last night. On has a very large, odd-shaped air sac that I'm not holding out much hope for. It is still kicking around though.

Pekins and Rouens:
Day7: I had 2 clears and one with a possible blood ring in the pekins and one rouen that had an embryo, but it doesn't seem to have grown any since day5. The rest are developing nicely though.

Welsh Harlequins:
Day5: I had 3 clears, one blood ring, and one that seems to be developing slower than the rest. The other 10 are doing nicely though.

Hi muddi, I think the seramas are 21 days on the 2nd of Oct but I hear they often hatch early.

I got mine from a neighbor, so they were driven not shipped. Yay. As of the first candling 11 of 12 are going.

I've got my fingers crossed, this is my first serama hatch. I'm handling them oh so carefully...

I just candled and most of the eggs are almost full and some have a little more space in the bottom but it looks like all 9 are still growing strong

I will be going into lockdown Tuesday night. Let's hope I am too busy to pay much attention to them after that

Good luck everyone
