Anybody going to be hatching around March 22?

I think mine will be "due" then too! Really hoping they hatch, as this is my first time, and I probably should have done more research before putting them in

My first batch should hatch on the 22nd too. It will be a great birthday gift for my daughter who will be six on the 20th. She loves her chickens!!! I hope we get a good hatch

So far everything seems to be good and steady. I can't wait to candle them.

Hi Everybody,
I set eggs this morning so they are due on the 24th.
A dozen barnyard mixes for our friends and a dozen cuckoo marans for ourselves.
The mixes are from our own and the marans were shipped, our first experience with shipped eggs.
Good luck everyone, can't wait to hear some candling stories soon.

Shipped eggs can be fine as long as you accept that fact that you will probably lose a couple. When candling, if you see any air bubbles floating around in there, it probably won't be a good egg. Otherwise, I candle when they go in the bator and then again at one week. You can usually tell by then. Of course with marans eggs candling can be difficult. If you do it before you put them in and they start, you can at least tell by the way the egg gets denser/darker as it goes on.

I plan on probably getting rid of most of these mixed little chickies, the kids I babysit in the morning, their parents just bought a little "farm" house. I haven't seen it, but it sound cute and they have gotten goats and rabbits and are getting the coop ready for when these little guys hopefully hatch. I will be putting eggs in again right after this, hopefully keeping some of these. I just don't know if I am doing more of my mutts eggs or buying some.
