Anybody hatching around March 7th? PICS page 9,18

10 oof 11 eggs hatched yesterday!! This is mixture.....one mottled java, a few PB silkies, and some crosses.

I didn't give this hatch a CHANCE! Was kind of an experimental one. Eggs were about 7 days old when I placed them. Humidity dropped to below 10% several times, and up to 70%..........(I was gone, someone else tended the eggs)and temps ranged from 96 to 101. Moved eggs from faulty bator to another one, and they even sat in an egg carton for about 1/2 hour on day 9.

Wasn't an easy hatch......first 4 hatched fine, but I had to assist the other 6-24 hours after pipping. One died in the shell, after it had completely zipped - drowned, I think?

They're all eating/drinking this morning. Did have to tape the Java's spraddled legs, we'll see about her/him.

Congrats to you all!!! Next hatch starts Wednesday.

Congratulations Equus2! That is a great hatch! What a cute bunch of chicks.
I have a silkie chick that is about two days old and has a bad leg. It goes out behind him and the foot is turned in. I have tried to think of a way to bring it forward for a while to let him get used to it being there but nothing has worked so far. Anyone have this happen before? He can pull it forward but mostly lets it stay behind so of course he doesn't walk well.
I am going to give him a few more days as he is the only silkie I have but........................

Thanks Equus2 butit isn't spraddle leg. The right leg wants to be back instead of forward and the foot rolls to the left towards the body. I just put a new splint on it that holds the foot forward so it is harder to let the leg go back. I am thinking that this chick will have to be put down because the problem seens to be in the hip. It seems as if the leg is fine as long as it points sideways towards the body.
Poor little guy.......

Hi Gina, I wish I knew what you should do; my barred rock that hatched had both feet turn in; the left foot is now fine, but the right foot the toes are fanned to the right....It's standing and walking and I'm giving it vitamin water; I'm hoping it will be okay. I hope the bandaid works for you.

Just through the window. I used the zoom on my camera. It also helps that the sweet chick had the consideration to be right underneath the window and not off in a corner
