Ok, so I'm starting to feel left out... My chicks are now 5 weeks old and hopefully are headed to the coop this weekend (DH has to get it done first!). Seems like everytime I get on here, someone else is getting NEW fuzzy butts!!! I can't get anymore till next spring (I already have 39, but approx. half will be headed to freezer camp late summer so I'll have room for more then...). I'm jealous of anyone who is getting new babies... Mine are, well, sorta ugly right now... even though they do start to carry on QUITE loudly when I walk into the garage now... expecting food or treats or to be let outside I suppose...

I had a chance a couple week ago to get some EE chicks at the feed store, but DH said no, and now the feed store won't be getting anymore in unless I special order them (which I don't have the finances to do!). I just wanted to vent and see if there was SOMEBODY, SOMEWHERE who can comiserate with me!!

(Ok, I think I'm done now...)

Me!!! At least not til I get a broodie. I'm sick of doing all the work with chicks, and the stress and worrying. Got my own 3 kids to take care of, so until I get me a momma chicken to take care of new chicks I won't be getting any more. I do however have 2 silkies, a silkie mix, and 4 BO's. None have gone broody yet, but I am hoping...
edited because I forgot how many chickens I had there for a moment, lol.

I'm hoping that at least one of mine will go broody next year and hatch her own babies... but, there are a couple more breeds (ok, 3!) that I want and will have to order those as day olds... but I don't mind taking care of them, till they are 5 weeks and stink to high heaven!! My garage is SOO nasty right now!!! And I'm sure the fact that I have 39 doesn't help!! And yes, I have a one year old DD to take care of, so it does get tricky... usually I wait till she's down for a nap then do the "yucky" chores- feeding, watering, cleaning, then when she gets up we take the chicks outside to play (if its nice!)... and she LOVES to watch them!

Me! Me! I'm not getting any more chicks. I'm perfectly happy with my crew of 16 chicks and two semi adults.

Honestly, I don't have the time to properly take care of more chickens. So I love the ones I have. And I think they like me!
