Anybody setting eggs this weekend? (4-25-15)

I set this weekend!

I set 26 Barred Plymouth Rock eggs these came from a source that breeds to standard. Im so excited for these chicks.

I also set 8 Midget White turkey eggs that she included as extras on the same day, they will hatch a week later. I think I might set a few Cream Legbar eggs next weekend to hatch the same day as the poults.

Just an update, my broody Buckeye is holding strong. Day 2 is in the books. Even better news, unlike her evil sister who drew blood on me, she's a sweetie and will not only let me pet her, she also lets me check her eggs.

This is going to be a lot of fun.

Can I join? Im dying to have someone to talk incubation with! My family is starting to think I'm going nuts! Its my very first time and I just want to do everything right! I set 7 Silkie eggs on April 23rd. They are shipped eggs too, so that makes me even more nervous! I saw some others on here are setting duck, quail, and black copper maran.....those are all ones that I want to try in the future! When I get on my phone, I'll post a pic of my setup. Due date is May 15, 2015. So exciting! Good luck to all! Can't wait to see baby pictures!!

Welcome Chickentera! Good luck with those Ameraucanas!

goodb- good to hear you've got a good broody! Mine is doing great also. Other than the egg she broke within the first 24 hours, she's just been perfect! Maybe 9 eggs was just one too many for her.

So exciting Pandapaws!! Congrats

Grab a seat RubyNala!
It's my first time too, but I'm using a broody so she's doing all the hard work. I don't know anything about incubators, but there seem to be some pretty knowledgeable peeps on here. My due date is the 15th also!

Thanks! I've read through the learning center like 3 times! I've never hatched and I've never had chickens! I grew up having pigeon coops, my grandfather races but it's HIS hobby. So the world of chickens is new to me! Can you candle the eggs at all while they are under mama? With the pigeons, you can sneak the eggs out but you get swatted at and pecked a little. But they are alot smaller then chickens! ;)

My plan is to wait until she gets off the nest for a few minutes to try candling. I really don't want to bother her too much.
You are going to love having chickens. They are so much fun and addicting! I really didn't realize how attached I would get to each one of them and how different their little personalities are.
