Anybody setting eggs this weekend? (4-25-15)

And I set this morning 39 quails eggs in the bator, so I don't have to wait as long as a chicken hatch. (But after that I'll be hatching ducks and geese for my neighbours in the next village. They'll put them in the brooder, I only hatch them, which is fun.

Well, I put my most recent 41 eggs into a brand new hovabator this afternoon. The eggs are all production from the last 5 days, so should be fresh...and hopefully fertilized. My layers are all "Frey's Special Dual Purpose", or what look like a Red Sexlink. The rooster is this awesome BCM I was given last fall. This is my first step towards creating my own strain of BCM. Meanwhile, I got another 12 layers (2 yrs old) that appear to have some BCM in them as their eggs are way darker than my originals...so my next batch for the incubator will be based on egg shell color.

I really feel like I am taking a huge leap here...;-]

Oho, a fellow minisnowtan! I'd tag along if you let me. We just set another 46 eggs back on the 23rd. And we will probably set another 30 or so on the 30th (end of the month.) Depending on weather or not our current surplus of chicks sells, we might even set up another hatch on the first week of May. (we have 30 -32 birds that don't have a home...yet --I'm setting up a Craig's add tomorrow)

Hi :) I'd love to join.

I have 9 light brahma eggs that I put in the incubator this morning.

This is my first time incubating eggs, and the eggs were posted, so I'm trying to be realistic that they might not hatch but I'm still excited.

Welcome one, welcome all!
I just went out to check on my broody, she got up for 2 bites of food and then right back on the nest. I didn't get a great look at the eggs, but I think there may have only been 7 :/ if she continues to break one a day, we're not going to make it to 21!

Vonrow- where are you in MN?

I set 27 yesterday April 26th :yesss:

23 polish and 4 Amber link x polish eggs.

1000

Can't wait for day 7 candling :pop

Well I have good news, I got a better look at the eggs later in the day and there are still 8!
I plan to candle next weekend, but I've never done it before so I won't really know what I'm looking at.

One of my chicken eggs is pipped but the humidity was at 15%. Will that effect the hatch? I added more water. And I heard the egg peep. Hoping it didn't as they are my last chance to keep my boys line going. As for my goose eggs I so far had two eggs quit. Out of 9.
