Maybe it's lack of coffee this morning (my big cup is sitting next to me, just haven't had a chance to drink it all yet!) but I laughed pretty hard about "1 hatch wonder"... LOL

I am so sorry you didn't atleast get a couple to hatch. I know first hand how sad it is. I have had that happen too many times with shipped eggs. These babies were from my chickens and that is the only reason so many hatched.
I have atleast 7 silkies eggs out of 9 going into lockdown tomorrow night that I got from a BYC member at on of the local swaps here.
I think 2 were clear the last time I candled. I am hoping the rest do well and hatch.
Don't give up, keep trying thats how we learn.

Thank you.
I lost 2 after they hatched. One had part of its insides that didn't go inside hanging out so I didn't hold much hope for it. I don't know what happened to the other one. It looked like it curled up and went to sleep. I opened the remaining 7 eggs and they were early quitters so out of 25 eggs 18 hatched and now there are 16 chirping away in my bathroom along with 2 Silver Laced Cochins about 3 weeks old and 7 little frizzles about 2 weeks old.

One of the blue ones is a pure Cochin and the other I am not sure as it doesn't have feathers on its legs. I have 1 splash and 2 blue cochin hens and 2 EE hens in with Big Blue Cochin and a BO roo. I will have to keep my eye on it and see if I can figure it out.

to get some next spring. I tryed to hatch some shipped eggs and 2 of 4 BC hatched but then I lost them. I did not do well on shipped eggs this year at all.

Wooot! I managed to get three of the dropped/cracked and waxed eggs to hatch! And the rest are hatching today! So far one delaware, one del mix, an whoknowswhat, and a beautiful blue sizzle baby! She's our first definite Sizzle from our own eggs.

Of my seramas - six hatched one died. So five of ten viable at 19 days... Not all that bad for seramas. One white with a little black on his head, one mottled - with black on his head, down his back and on his ears. One that is brown downed so maybe choc or dun - we'll have to see. And two wild patterned with some odd mottling of what should be normal, e+ down. Going to be cool to see how they turn out.

At least five or six more pips in our own eggs...

Woot! Another blue Sizzle and this one's got a Vault! Go sizzles go. All the rest of the eggs have pipped and two more have hatched.
