The total is still the same. 18 hatched, 1 died and 7 still in the incubator but I don't have much hope. They were all set the same time.

My final count is 3 black mottled d'uccles, 2 porcelain d'uccles, 2 mille fleur d'uccles, and one pekin duckling

I didn't realize the duck eggs were due the same time, actually, I'm pretty sure they weren't. Apparently this little guy wanted to join in on the fun

11 eggs died from the unplugged bator, give or take. There were 2 or 3 that looked like they were dead when I put them in there, but I wasn't sure, so I moved them anyway. One of the mille fleur eggs looked like it might still be alive yesterday, but it hasn't done anything, so probably not. There was one that had pipped the membrane and died, and one that appeared to have pipped into its yolk sac (lots of yellow inside the shell), but the rest just quit.

Dang kid, he is so lucky he didn't kill them all! They were doing so well, poor babies

I have nothing... no rocking, no pipping, not even a little chirp. *sigh*

But it's so nice to see all the babies!!

Adorable chicks! Great photos too!
Mine are all in embryo heaven. *sigh* 0/10
I opened the remaining 5, and the weeper I had put out the other day. All had development, but most had stopped early; I could see big dark eyes and in some a beak. One looked like 18 days or so along. Since the high temp on day 2 didn't do them in, maybe it was the humidity later, when it got to 70's due to water cups plus a sponge. I wish I knew. So sad, I thought 3 of them were moving at day 14.

The styrobator is now relegated to being a brooder, if it works for that... somewhere I read that they will do?
http://msucares.com/poultry/reproductions/images/embryo3.jpg just added... mine were prob 6-9 days, and the big one 16-18? ('his' yolk was marble sized)

bwagner, did anything hatch?

Shelley, you did well for having your 'bator unplugged! Maybe the duckling was afraid to wait too much longer.

When are yours due, monita? We put 8 more on lockdown tonight. This batch is the combination of the 3 left (from 10) store-bought (refrigerated) free range eggs and 5 (from 6) from our farmers' market. Everyone moved when we candled tonight and all the veins looked good, so

nhnanna, those are the sweetest chicks! I've never had that many at once so I can only imagine the peep peep peep going on at your house. Are the two grey/blue/silver ones (down front, on the left) EEs or Cochin mixes?

3 chickens, I had to show your silkie babies to my daughter. She got a laugh out of how fluffy yours' feet are compared to Ginny Tso who had a whopping 4 bits of fluff on her feet. (I guess that's okay, she's a EE mutt and won't be going to the fair anyway.)
