It is unfortunate that the US feels the need to place warships in that area. I think that the US would react with threats of war if any other country came to the US shores to do military exercises. Poking the bear.

It's a cleft stick. The carrier was on its way already for an annual exercise. To turn it around now would look like a backing down. The North Koreans have been very clever in the timing of their shelling of an island they claim to be rightfully theirs. Schoolboy gang games and neither side is giving the other room to pull back without losing face at the moment.

But I don't go along with 'business as usual, move along, nothing to see', either.

Responsible citizens of the US are also informed citizens. People can't vote or conduct themselves responsibly in this country if they don't put forth some effort to learn about things. No, not accept what your neighbor or internet friends tell you, or adopt some sort of hysterical position 'because everyone says so' or the news tried and succeeded in making some sort of hystrionics, but actually learn.

Your statement is the way it should be. The top statement is the way it is. As you have pointed out before. People read and watch whatever reinforces their narrow opinion and view of things.

The point was that there is nothing new there. We are no closer to war than we were last week or last year. They periodically conduct exercises and shows of force, we do the same. This is the fourth time in a decade that North and South naval forces have butted heads over ownership of the islands in question. The North doesn't want war, South Korea (and us) would annihilate them. They want to goad us into coming back to peace talks and to be respected as a nation instead of being stuck behind a curtain of economic sanctions and trade embargoes.

It's the same old cat and mouse game that has been going on for decades. Just another day on the Korean peninsula.

The message was move on, don't pay any attention, ignore it.

Not that there is nothing new.

And the fact is, there are factors in the situation that are different now. It is also a fact that no one has a crystal ball, and no one knows when or how the situation in any hot spot in the world, will heat up again.

Moving on, nothing to see here, business as usual - in international events, there is never, ever, 'nothing to see' and it is never 'business as usual' because things are always changing. I disagree with panicking, but I also disagree with assuming that nothing is going to change. I think 'move along, business as usual', is very, very ill placed.

The assumptions I read here, that America can never be invaded, don't pay any attention to what's going on, I think are just as misplaced as assuming that NK issues will always be 'business as usual'. But so is freaking out at every news report.

Or perhaps the second part was meant to be slightly facetious while assuaging people's fears that we are somehow heading for WW III.

I already clarified what my point was. Now you're telling me what I actually meant?

X2.

When Uranus (planet or rebelliousness) transits the sign Aires in 2011, the poo will be hitting the fan for sometime.
1960's Uranus transits the peace loving sign of Libra (peace movement)
Late 1960's into 70's Uranus transits passionate Scorpio (Sexual revolution)
80's Uranus in philosophical Sagittarius (new age movement)
90's Uranus in business like Capricorn (Suit and Tie business revolution) I don't have the right words for this one, sorry
Late 90, early 2000's into techno.com Aquarius we had the internet revolution,
since then it has been transiting Pisces, sign of undoing, (stock market, big banks),
Aries is the sign of self identity and war. Doesn't necessarily mean war, but viewing current circumstances.

Uranus must be very important....Why can't people see this?
