Anyone buy from nature's hatchery?

They don't drop ship runner ducks from Ideal as I got both chocolate and blue from them and Ideal doesn't have those colors. They are nice people to work with.

I just do not see why some people like to shout that this or that hatchery drop ships. It is probably what keeps the chicks at a more affordable price. Go ahead and and shout about it if a hatchery says they do not drop ship and does.

Hello,
Im new to this forum but i wanted to respond to this thread.I ordered a bunch of rare breeds of chicks, turkeys and geese from Natures hatchery back in febuary 2010.I pre paid the order to be sure to get my rare breeds.Im not really sure what to think about them yet as they have had to change and substatute almost every thing i originally ordered so far. Then they said i might get my original order in may 2010.Well to date i have only gotten the 4 pomerain geese i orderd but the pilgrams i cant get so i substitued them for something else.I just got the 10 turkeys i ordered today plus they sent 9 chicks of a breed i dont think i even ordered so mabie filler chicks im not sure as they did not call me back.I have a terrible time reaching them. They dont call back until i have called and left message after message.I have asked them to let me know when orders are being shipped so i can take time off of work. They always tell me they will let me know but they dont! I just got a call from the post office to let me know i had chicks in.Im still missing aprox 20- 30 chicks from my order (depending on subs)I think they will be shipped on june 1st but im not sure of that eather as i have had bunches of ship dates from them. They turkeys i got look good except one Might not make it.The geese were like a week and a half old chicks stuffed into a box they couldent even raise their heads or stand in and it took 3 days to get them. They are doing great tho thank goodness.I was told that because my order was almost all rare breeds that thats why they are having trouble filling the order but you would think that from feb to now they could have gotten them all together before filling new orders.Im hopeing to get the rest of my order and the things i want as i give them sub and they keep changing them to colors i dont want!!!!Unless they make it right with me when the final order comes im sure i wont be ordering from them again. This time of year it will be much harder for me to get the rare breeds(that i dont get) somewhere else this time of year.

Almost the same story here!!! i placed an order for 4 (FOUR) chicks and i have gotten multiple ship dates from them since Feb. to June 1st as well. Each time the chicks were supposed to ship out i was only informed because i called and asked about my order. Finally i got a ship date for Mon. May 10. I was expecting a call but nothing so Tue. i called and they said it was shipped out Mon. And should arrive Wed. Later that day (Tue) i got a call from them. They said THEIR post office left a message stated that the Package was CRUSHED and will be returned. So again a new date...

Where did you hear that if you dont me asking? That is interesting...

I had someone tell me this once so I decided to check it out, I called them and asked if I could drive down their and pick up my chicks and they said only Muscovies. you can match everyone of their breeds and colors to the ones at Ideal poultry, as an example they have all 8 of the same colors that Ideal Poultry has of D'uccles. I could go on and on that they have identical birds. I do not believe in drop ship hathcherys, it is misleading and costs the buyer more money. The whole point of a drop ship hatchery is so the seller which in this case is Natures Hatchery can make money off of birds that they do not care for, own or have even seen. A D'Uccle at Ideal poultry is $2.92 and the same bird sold through Natures Hathcery is $3.06.

Found this on their website, I bolded the part I wanted you guys to read. I hope you don't think i'm yelling.

About us...

Nature's Hatchery has been shipping birds for many major hatcheries in the US for years, but in recent years, we have expanded into retail and offer well over 400 varieties of chicks to customers in the US, including Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, and Alaska. We hatch many varieties here at our facility, but cannot hatch all of them at this location due to size restrictions. Our facility is more than just a hatchery: it is a breeding facility as well. Due to extremely strict state biosecurity measures (that mandate the exclusion of visitors to breeding facilities for the protection of the poultry industry), we are not able to accept pickup at our facilities, or offer tours. We use mail order only. Thank you for your understanding! Shipping to Canada may be available for the 2010 hatching season.
