Anyone doing a later year hatch that wants to share stories,experiences and pics?

We are three days from lockdown with 8 Nankin Bantam eggs. They started out under a first-time broody who had a change of heart. We put them in the bator to try and finish them off. The auto-turner quit at some point (we're not sure when) so we've been turning them manually for a week, now. So far, so good. I candled when we started turning them, and it looks like we only had two duds at that point. I left 'em though, because I don't trust my candling skills, yet. We'll just keep our fingers crossed and take our chances...

UPDATE - We had one baby hatch yesterday afternoon! We named "her" - fingers crossed - Cecilia, in honor of DD's wins at the Cecil County Fair on Saturday. One of her Nankin roos won a slew of awards, including Best in Show. There were several hundred birds, there, and it was only her second, his first show. I am so proud of BOTH of my champions!
We're still waiting on the other 7 eggs, even though I'm pretty sure that two of hem are dead. They look like they may have quit when the auto-turner did. Sigh.

We'll have show pics, but not until Saturday, when the awards ceremony goes off. It was so miserably cold and rainy all day Saturday that the Fair actually closed. The Poultry Show was the ONLY thing going on all day. Even the photographer left early. Figures.

What a bummer! I started trying to incubate because my step-son wants a show chicken. I just can't find any kind of real quality in my area. I've heard bantams are a really good for 4-H.

Ok! so, I don't know if I'm going to throw up or cry at this point. More on that later. The day before we left everything was good and everything was on track. I went over a schedule with our sitter and explained how to care for them. I told her that Inna our Lavender Ameraucana was sitting and the hatching eggs under her were brown and everyone in that coop lays Blue/Green eggs so, if she found a stray she was welcome to take it. I also told her not to worry about the other coop because everyone in there lays brown eggs and she would not be able to tell the difference.

Now comes the BOOM!! We went across the street when we got back to pay her for watching every one and she said...."There's nothing wrong with that Rooster we cracked eggs Friday morning and could not eat most of them". "You had babies everywhere!." So, I surrender to 2018, it just wasn't meant to be.

I've also decided what i'm going to do now...….Throw up!!
