Anyone "DUE" the 11th? (lol) CANDLING PICS ADDED PG 2

I am the same way. I have a 6 and 9 year old and they get SOOO excited!! My husband gets crabby too when I have bad hatches. He asks, How much did you pay?? I shrug and play dumb. I tell him I could be gambling it away at the casinos or buying shoes... at least this way there is a good chance I will have eggs and chicken for the table.
Good luck at the pig show! I have never been to one of those, except when they show them at the fair
Hugs

We candled them and found large areas of dark, but our light was not strong enough to detect veining, and the eggs are definitely heavier than when we got them. I thought at least three of eight were pretty good and viable. It is my first hatch. Actually it was my husband who wanted to incubate the eggs. But they are aruacana eggs and the supplier admitted that that breed does not take well to incubation.

I didn't realize there was a way to check the humidity levels although we have been careful making sure that there was always water in the wells.

I will wait a few more days. I will say a few prayers tonight

govega, I use a digital thermometer from Walmart. It cost less than $10 and has worked great this past year. I have had a harder time holding humidity levels with the dry air down here. I am keeping it between 65 and 70% in the hatcher now. That has worked perfect for me in the past. Don't give up after your first one. Shoot, my first batch I drowned half of them with 85% humidity! LOLOL

Christina, I am hoping washing show pigs and preparing all the paperwork I have to for sale pigs will keep my mind off it, but no such luck. I keep going and peeking. Maybe we will come home after a full day tomorrow and there will be a ton of peeps in the bator. I really like these shows as we have a TON of fun, but man my mind is else where.

So last night when i cked on the eggs I had one PIP! I was so excited! This morning when I went into the hatchery and looked I had 3 New baby EEs! I am so excited. The other 5 have not pipped yet. I hope I get at least one or so more. One of them is white! I have been wanting a white one. They all came from Green eggs and the rooster I was told was a green egger too, so these should be some nice ones..The egg color was pretty. Oh and I have 1 duck egg that was dated to hatch on the 9th that has finally worked a whole in the egg he should hatch by tonight I think. Ducks take longer than chicks.

Hey I'm back....well I was back sence 1, but I had lots to do because the weather is decent today.
Another of mine has pipped...

I was taking my English final...super easy.
I'm done for now anyways till spring semester.
I think I was really lucky with my classes this year it wasn't stressful at all

this is chickabator mine that were suppose to hatch I miss calculated the due date and they hatched yesterday. I didn't take them out of the turner till wed. and 1 hatched wed night and the rest yesterday all together what hatched was 12 delaware 9 barred rocks and 1 white laced red cornish. only 1 egg didn't hatch and it was a cornish all these eggs were shipped eggs too
I bought 10 barred rocks they sent 12
12 delaware they sent 16
9 cornish they sent 9 out of the 9 2 were fertile and 1 of them died about a week ago. so not bad I don't think

I am about to shut down for the night and thought I would stop in and see how everyone is doing. Sounds like LOTS of new peeps for everyone to enjoy.

I did put in my remaining three eggs from the incubator to the hatcher. They are due on the 15th, but I am going to be a busy bee tomorrow and not around to move them. I candled just the tops of my other eggs on day 21 to see if anything was happening. I have no pips. Most of them look like there is no air cell, but then again it was kind of hard to tell keeping the lid down so close. So we will see. I hope for a late hatch is all I can say. I have already told my son that we may have to look further for more Welsummers. Maybe after the holidays and packages will have a better chance. Let's hope not. These Wellie eggs are so dark! UGH!

I finished hatching this morning and ended up with 20 chicks. I set 40 eggs to start...so exactly 50% made it to furry babies. I will try to post pics.
Good luck to everyone else that is still hatching.
