Anyone Due to Hatch on the 15th of July?pics GC's

NU let them knock the others around it's actually GOOD for them, encouraging and stimulating the others to hatch. Bumper chicks actually HELPS.

I mentioned drying - because her keets tried to DROWN in the water jars. Then it becomes an emergency. They have to be dried before they go fully into shock - totally different then normal conditions.

Well, it takes longer to get dry and fluffy when they all jump into the water bowl!

It turns out that 13 out of 16 eggs hatched.

I have been using the hair dryer to dry them out and they look much better.

I do it in little batches of two and three. I tried to do it all at once, but then they were all hopping out of the incubator.

So yes, a hair dryer works.

I also put paper towels in there which absorbs a lot of moisture. If you are done hatching, you might put paper towels in there.

Two BO's have hatched so far! Yay!

Am I correct in thinking that, unless it's an emergency, you are not supposed to open the bator until all have hatched???
(Tryin' to convince my kids that we cannot take them out yet!)

She is an awesome dog, now 13 1/2 and doing great. Have you seen the movie Marley and Me.? Our story is very similar. She is a huge part of our family and very bonded to my young boys. Even gets along just fine with the chickens. I've yet to teach her to herd them back in the coop.

We had to place ours, she kept wanting to fight to the death with one of the GSDs. I still miss her. I volunteer with ABMC (Mals) as a home screener and shelter check/transporter. Too much dog for me now I'm retired though. Couldn't possibly keep up with a young one.
