Anyone Due to Hatch on the 15th of July?pics GC's

Well Woke up to 1 Giant Splash Cochin chick and my 2nd pip is a little bigger but no others yet/Sooooo Tired!!!

My BO's are still hatching. I think I have 7 now. They are a little hard to count.

We ended with 7 chicks-
2 that look like they are healthy Buff Cochins, and the rest are scrawny, sickly looking little chicks that do not look like they are Cochins at all, two cannot even walk.

My kids are still delighted with them, my hubby was completely drawn in and amazed while they were hatching but I am crushed.
For me, this hatching was a disappointing learning experience and should I ever hatch again, I will certainly not purchase eggs off Ebay.

:i am hatching on july 15 also.we have silver laced polish about 8 of them and 4 mixed silver laced polish due. we had 4 to hatch a day early.they are so cute.also we have a grown silver laced polish hen that just went broody on july 10.im so excited about them also because polish hens hardly ever go broody.

I am just thrilled. Greenfamilyfarms sent me 18 eggs (I think). A few candled clear, and a couple went bad, as is to be expected.

I think the hatch is over now, and I got 10 chicks, nice healthy chicks, and one other that died in the shell after pipping. So that is more than a 50% hatch rate for shipped chicks, which I think is a GREAT hatch.

It is certainly more than I ever got before from shipped eggs, except of course for the little Quail eggs that just hatched on Tuesday.

This makes me think two things. 1. Both Shelleyd2008 (Quail eggs) and Greenfamilyfarms (BO eggs) are GREAT shippers of eggs. The BO eggs had gotten lost in the mail the first shipment, and they replaced them right away.

I think that both people were fine to deal with, thank you.

2. I think I am finally catching on as to how to do this! Getting temps and humidity right, finally.

Oh, and I learned one more thing. I am one that does believe in helping sometimes, and when I help is if I see a pip that lasts more than 12 hours without progressing. I think that even if the humidity is right, that membrane can just dry out and then they have trouble. So I just caaarrrefullly 'zip' along the line where it would normally be, and lift the lid off, and remove that membrane, and then put it back in to finish, which they usually do in about two minutes. Anyway, what I learned is that--there are two membranes! Did everyone else know this, or is it only me?

Anyway, I am so happy.

Just a sort of happy followup.

I had some BO's that were all dried off and fluffy, and I put them into my tiny brooder box that was already full of baby quails.

I was a little nervous about this, because wow, those BO chicks are HUGE compared to the quail, and what if they picked on them? I am planning to put them in the outside brooder box soon.

Anyway, they all seem to be getting along just fine! The little quails LIKE their great big buddies and want to snuggle them. And the BO's are not pecking.

Only thing is, I am not sure that the BO's can drink out of the itty bitty quail waterer, so they will still have to go outside soon. I may put a bigger waterer in there, though, as those quails are so vigorous that I rather think they can probably hop right out, should they hop in. I don't know.

Isn't this hatching hobby interesting and fun? Well, it's fun when it works.

just got home from work have 2 chicks and 3 more pips so cool but my humidity went down to 59 so I did a lightning fast refill hope the pips are ok

I am assuming that you have a Malamute--I have always wanted one, but I am afraid they would perhaps injure my little Iggy guys. Plus, probably too much dog for me to handle.
