Well I have had a small catastrophe here. LOTS of little quails (is the plural of quail quails or quail)--anyway out of 16 eggs 11 hatched, which I think is great, my best hatch yet.
BUT--this morning when I walked in here a few minutes ago, they were ALL BUT ONE swimming in the jars of water in there for moisture. I thought the jars were tall enough to be safe but I was wrong. ALL of them frantically swimming about. Only one has died, so far, of course I took them out and they are all wet and flailing about. I expect more will die they don't look good, but you never know.
Well, shoot if I can't use jars to keep the humidity up, now what am I going to do?
This hatch is over, anyway, do I have taken all water stuff out. Um, they are wet enough as it is.
So--cross fingers for my baby quails. This sort of thing is very discouraging, isn't it.
One BO has hatched in the other incubator. Hopefully more soon.
