Anyone Else as Stubborn or Cheap as Me?

I wouldnt mind Saving I sleep better when it is a little cooler.. My wife turnes the heat to 74 plus and i cant stand it also i have an almost empty propayne tank to show.. flustrating

Our 'stat is set at 65 for day and 55 at night.

I cannot go lower than 55 at night due to how often we get power outages in winter. I learned the hard way. Was keep the house at 45 at night, but that is too cold should the power go out for an hour or so - when the outter temp is in the negative. Pipes will freeze fast.

So that ten degree difference at night really helps.

I also unplug just about EVERYTHING (leave the phone and furnaces plugged in

). It really does make a difference in the power bill.

My thermostat set at 62. I bought some twin bed quilts on sale to use on the couch or recliner while watching tv, or on the computer. We have sweats or fleece still stay toasty. I really hate the utility company taking 1/2 a mortgage payment just to be warm. When then little ones are here I will turn it up to 66 for them. But moms know to dress them warm menopause keeps me so hot I almost need a/c in the winter. lol

I set my thermo at 62 also. We are on oil heat and it's $$$$ plus we have a big house. 62 if I am home, 55 if I am not and at night.

It is zoned, so I can turn it on in a specific room if need be but I just bundle up most of the time.

Same here. The only thing that stays plugged is the fridge and freezer. Everything else is unplugged and only plugged when I need it. And you're right. It really does make a difference in the power bill.

my DH has fits over me unplugging everything. It always takes him a few minutes to figure out why the tv doesn't work. But my non a/c or non heating bill is only $65 for an all electric home.

We use the little electric heater as a spot heater in the mornings, too.

I wanted a high efficiency wood stove (air tight for my asthma), but we'd have to pipe double or triple wall through two stories and rebuild the hearth and wall.

Oops, yeah the fridge and freezer stay plugged in here too.

Is it not amazing the difference? Once we started doing it, we saw our electric bill fall by 50%. Course we did have lots of "stuff" plugged in.............stuff we had not used in years.

I told hubby about the space heater, and 2 seconds later I hear banging around in the attic! HAHAHAHA

Though, our temp now says 59 in here. I don't know why its gone down?
