Anyone Else as Stubborn or Cheap as Me?

Hey I'm in Florida and 62 in the house is heaven to me!!! My wife had 2 blankets on last nite (was 61 in the house) and didn't even had 1! lol

Anything under 60 I may turn it on...but 62 long sleve tshirt and shorts for me! lol

That is how we are in our house. The heat doesn't go on until there is icicles coming out of your nose. (I am kidding about the icicle part). So we all walk around with sweatshirts and slippers. We do have a woodstove though. Just don't really use the heat until its really cold.

Your always making jam, aren't you? I bet that warms up your house! If I'm a little chilly, I just start cooking/baking and it takes the chill off. Plus, the hubby and kids like it, too.

Oh most definitely, today we're making chicken stock. I keep all the bones in the freezer for a cold day like today. I also keep a gallon back of veggie scraps for when a day like this come on. So around 1 pm, I'll start by roasting all the scraps in the oven and then move over into the stock pot. Later I'll probably make cookies to keep all that heat going.

Perfect day for it!

Well, then I think he needs to stop crying about the temp. : ) He gets a good smelling house and cookies!

I'm making chicken and rice soup today. My little one is a little under the weather. Usually it's chicken and noodle, but I'm being lazy and don't feel like making egg noodles.

Cheap?? Nahhhh... frugal and thrifty sound better.

We never turn ours higher than 65 when we are home and turn it down as far as it will go at night and while we are gone during the day. We put an extra blanket on the bed. My father-in-law gave us two antique wool blankets that are delightful. I also have afghans on every chair and an ancient, hole-y robe that I slip on whenever I'm cold. We use a small space heater to knock the chill off the bathroom before we shower in the morning. Since we are empty nesters, we don't heat the empty bedrooms. We also use our fireplace when we are going to be home. It heats all of the main rooms of our house. We have cut our oil bill waaaay down.

I am like you,but I never set it right.Either people are too cold or too hot.My mom set hers low only to find out the gas company raised rates because people were conserving TOO well.

Ours is set to 63 during the day and 61 at night. I have a oil filled heater ( not kerosene) that I run on low in the bathroom on COLD night, I really hate a cold toilet seat. I'm hot natured so sometimes at night I get warm but I have 4 birds in the house that I have to think about everything else has fur or blankets.

Well my chinese crested doesn't have fur but she has clothes.

If I wanted to heat my entire home, I would pay $80 in electric + $1200 for oil to burn per month. Ha! No way!!!

We use portable electric heaters in rooms that are occupied while they are occupied and everyone needs to dress warmly.

Oooooh.... we have a plug in electric heater in the attic I forgot about! When my FIL pasted away we found it new in box in his garage! I'm going to tell hubby to go get that out and put it in my office to use while I'm working, or in the living room when we're all in there. Good plan!

That's how I heat my rooms. When it gets down to the 20's, I MIGHT bring out the portable heater and that's a BIG might and I only heat the room that I am in. So it's a movable heater. It moves from room to room. I can't afford to give all of my money to the electric company.
