I used to put my eggs next to my refridgerator , the motor on the side of refridge helps keep it warm !So my results are...mixed. I put in 7 eggs. 1 egg didn't grow at all. Out of the other 6, all 6 developed fully - even down to absorbing the yolk. 1 hatched perfectly. 1 pipped but got stuck and couldn't zip so I had to help it out. Same day, 1 pipped in the wrong spot and I had to move quickly to help that one out. Apparently in helping those 2, I managed to get the other 3 shrink wrapped in their membranes. :'( So this morning I cracked 3 eggs with perfect chicks in them, all dead. But the ones I saved made it, so I got 3 chicks out of the batch. I'm so incredibly sad that I caused the death of 3 chicks.
Now my incubator is only holding 99 degrees even though it ran 99 all 3 weeks ... I'm thinking it's because the weather has turned. (We don't have heat, just a fireplace). My next batch of eggs is coming next week. I need to get it ready by then. And try not to kill any chicks this time.![]()

I was like that Everyday I stared at the little window (even on the third day !) waiitng for them to hatch ! the fun part its when they start hatching like crazy! I was being a happy mom ! Now I got a broody hen and thats different ! But I like her cute face, she is being a serious mommy !
My chickes are nearly 2 months old,OCT 5, the mother is white silkie, the babies are mixed with other hens eggs. Father is white silkie. the babies are part americana. some are dominique and some are cochan. and the strangest thing I got was two pure white that looks like white leghorns! All of them have 5 toes with feathered feet. and a mohawk ! (I will take pictures) Right now I am at a guessing stage trying to figure out which ones are roosters ! Once I try to post them maybe you can help ! Hows all your chickies doing?
