I was watching on your webcam when your silkies were hatching! Both of my silkies pipped, zipped, & hatched while that first egg of yours was deciding whether to zip or not.
Here are my 2 partridge silkies (& a little mille fleur chick):

Good luck on hatch #2! Are they more black silkies? I have 12 black/white/mix silkies in this mix.

ETA: I added the word "black." As in... are they more black silkies, or some other color?

Oh no!

I'd leave them in a few more days and candle again. That's what I'll do with any peafowl eggs that don't show any development. I'm one of those people who doesn't take an egg out unless it is obviously not going to develop... or if it stinks or leaks.

Keep us updated... I'm looking forward to seeing pics of those cute little goslings!

Btw, I think I saw you on Jen's thread ordering some of her eggs. Woot! I can't wait to see those little "Sassy Silkies"! I should have helped out, but I couldn't at the time. *sighs*

I am so sorry, DulcyDoll. I hope you see some late bloomers on day 16! I'll start sending you good hatching vibes, and talkin' to the hatching fairies, lol.

I set four Pilgrim goose eggs on May 23 that are due to hatch around June 22nd. This is my first time hatching anything, and I am really nervous. I had a temperature spike the first week to 104 degrees for several hours, which really worried me, but two are definitely developing, one doesn't look fertile, and the fourth is iffy. It has a definite air cell, but it looks irregular, and the dark mass is not as large as the other two. Also, everyone talks about veining, but I have not seen any veining, only a dark mass that is definitely getting bigger. I am keeping my fingers crossed! It's much more exciting and nerve wracking than I ever thought it would be.

kcardella, I hope those two goose eggs hatch for you! At least you were able to distinguish those two, I don't think I could have. And I agree, this incubating thing is a lot more worrisome that I thought it would be. Let us know how it goes for you!

Honestly, I know candling for me is going to be rough, lol. I have no experience really, and I need to start reading on it. There's almost no point, though, because unless I'm 100% sure, them eggies are staying in. I don't trust myself, lol. XD

Thanks! I will let you know how it goes.

I have been reading so much, but there is not nearly as much information about (or pictures) of candling goose eggs as there is about chicken eggs. Some people see veins, some do not, etc.

I'm also afraid to take the ones I'm not sure about out of the incubator just in case I'm wrong. I keep sniffing them though, just to make sure they are not going bad! LOL

My DH just told me last night, "you sure are researching this, aren't you?" I am officially obsessed!

Yupper, we received 4 buff and 2 white silkie eggs from Sassy, we're hooked!...

That was so kewl to watch for the first time(for us), we'll have cam back up from day 18 on for these babies, can't wait!, but having 2 fuzzy butts to play with till then is making this round much easier...
