Anyone else hatching Feb. 1st?

Here's a more clear picture of my Silkie with her surrogate chick. It is from the neighbor's chickens, but she hatched it! I thought it was a Barred Rock/Cochin mix crossed with a Plymouth Rock, but they also have EE's over there and I don't really know what I have!! It's cute though!

One Silkie egg has pipped, but only has a little hole through the egg. It has made no progress all day. It is still peeping and seems to have air to breathe so we thought we better wait until morning, which would be 24 hours, before deciding to do anything or not. I so want it to hatch!!!

Okay! Okay! I got one!! Finally! It's been a long night!! Little silkie looks good! Another one of the eggs has a pip so maybe that will make 2! Oh, it snowed here too which is pretty dern rare! Now if I can just get rid of this head cold it will be a great day!

I have a Q.. The silkies that have the vaulted skull have grey skin and the ones without it have the black skin..Is that normal? They are all keepers to me but I just wanted to know

Congratulations Sara, are you sure the grey skinned ones are not mixed?

they better not be! I got these eggs for Christmas from my BIL the firs batch were scrambled bad so the guy sent more. supposed to be Hattrick lines but who knows
