anyone else hatching may 1st

I stopped turning and glad i have another batch going so i can look and mess with them and keep my darn hands out of the ready to hatch bator...

Day 18 here. My first hatch I did in cartons. This time I'm just using the self liner. However I have not made it smooth. That way I still have the big end up slightly and in sections, sort of. We'll see how it goes. My first hatch I never saw an egg wiggle. This time one of my mille fleur D'uccles is very active. I wonder if it will be the first to pip.

My bator was full till I candled on day 10. I have 35 left. Not too bad. I candled a few when laying them out. They all waved "hi".

Thanks to the mille fleur my nose is already plastered to the bator! Of course my first hatch was all done but one on day 20. Soooooooo.....

I have a black Rock chick from that hatch sleeping on my wrist as I type this. She is incredibly friendly. She jumps up on the edge of the brooder to get to us and walks up on our hand for a lift up and cuddle. Just loves spending time with us and was the first egg I ever hatched.

How do you hear pipping over the hum of the incubator motor??? I'd love to hear them. But pressing my ear to the lid just gives me a warm ear!

Took the eggs out of the turner last night. Candled and tossed out 3 that for sure were clear. One is so dark you can't see anything. 15 left in there now.

I pulled one and have three in the ??? Row everything eles was moving

I couldn't really see movement. All of the wellie eggs are pretty dark but on most we could see the air sac and the rest was just a dark mass. Hope that's what they should look like. Raised the humidity to around 68%.

Dark eggs are hard I have blue ones that are hard I need a better light

Ok, pulled the eggs from the turner, added more sponges and opened the vents. I have almost NO grip with my fingers due to washing my hads often, so one of the big eggs slipped from my grasp. FORTUNATELY the egg did not fall far and the resulting crack did not gp through the membrane so I waxed the crack and put it in. I'll keep my fingers crossed on that one!

I have three dud suspects that I piled into a corner. Now the worst part! Waiting three more days! Thank goodness I have to work this weekend!

My eyes are glued to the bator I have some due in the morn and some due on may 1 We had two hatch out of 6 that were put in before these . We had one that piped and ziped but had broken its yolk and yellow foam was comming out of the egg he did not make it. So so far 1 tiny super cute blk sexlink with a touch of white on his chest. One biger yellow one which is white sexlink he had a rl rough time he got stuck for hours coming out the wrong way. we had to help him a bit and he seems to be doing just fine. We also have ducks due on May 1 we lost one duck egg at day 18 it turned grey and was leaking TG we saw it before it exploded in bator. We opened it it apears he died around day 14 or so. I have 144 more eggs to go in new batore which i hope to have running and stable by weekend. I will post pics of the two babies that hatched later.
